Villa Emaline feels private and secluded, with nothing but cypress trees standing in between you and the Adriatic. Views stretch out over the island Lokrum and the centuries old Dubrovnik walls, hinting to the breath-taking places and scenery you can visit during your stay.
Dubrovnik is a spectacular holiday destination. The ancient walled city offers mesmerising scenery and buildings, and the surrounding area enjoys natural charms, gorgeous beaches, an excellent array of water sports, and boat trips and beautiful, ancient villages and towns to visit.

Dubrovnik Old Town is renowned for its character and charm, with its medieval town sheltered by ancient city walls and steeped in history. The best time to walk around the city wall is either early or late in the day though as the queues are long and can be very hot. The Stradun, the city’s main thoroughfare, is lined with shops, cafes, and stalls inside the walls. Chic boutiques and stylish bars rub shoulders with ancient palaces, monasteries, churches and medieval houses. You will marvel at how the light changes on these ancient buildings. Much of the city’s Renaissance architecture was wiped out in the 1667 earthquake though some examples left, including St Saviour Church. It would be best to visit the Franciscan Monastery with one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe. There is a fantastic atmosphere in the charming, bustling marina and port where you can take boat trips to various islands and Montenegro. The port is also brimming with fabulous fish restaurants soaking up the sunlight and guests enjoying cocktails. There are three entrances to the walled city, including Pile, the main gate, Ploca by the port and Buze between the two. Buze Gate will take you in via steep staircases. Once you have finished looking at the churches, palaces and monasteries, you can take the cable car up to reach Mt Srd, which is the best place to enjoy stunning views of this iconic Old Town. You will also enjoy sensational views of the expansive coastline and the beautiful mountains in the distance.

Dubrovnik offers an assortment of beaches, most pebbly like Banje Beach just below the walls of the Old Town. It enjoys sheltered bathing, seafront bars and cafes and a complete line-up of watersports. You can take boat trips over to the islands of Dubrovnik’s Adriatic Riviera for some lovely secluded sandy coves. It only takes 15 minutes to reach Lokrum Island by boat from the port. Lokrum is a pine-clad island buzzing with wildlife and full of walking paths, a botanical garden and the ruins of an old Benedictine monastery.

The beautiful Arboretum Trsteno is not far from the villa and is worth visiting. It is the oldest renaissance garden in Dalmatia. It developed from a park surrounding the summer residence of the Gucetic-Gozze family and existed as far back as 1492. The gardens are stunning with Japanese banana trees, bougainvillaea, evergreen magnolia, many types of cactus and other exotic plants. It also includes many old stone sculptures and has been used to film Game of Thrones.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Villa Emaline is a brilliant choice for family holidays with kids, with a private pool and jacuzzi that they will love and stunning views that will impress the kids as much as they do the adults.

Nearby, Dubrovnik offers endless exciting and captivating attractions for children. They can spend a day exploring the prominent filming locations from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, walking through the streets of Kings Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms and dominant power in Westeros. The castle (St Lawrence Fortress) and gardens of the Red Keep in Trsteno Arboretum are where King Joffrey celebrated his royal wedding.

Within the Old Town of Dubrovnik, children always love climbing and walking around the city walls, visiting ancient buildings and fortresses, enjoying delicious ice creams, and buying souvenirs from the stalls on the main street. The walls are about two kilometres long, and they encircle the entire Old Town, which means they get to see the whole thing. The walls are up to 25 metres high, and there are plenty of stairs, towers, fortifications, and a large fortress. The Franciscan Monastery and Museum is a mid-14th-century cloister and home to Europe’s third oldest functioning pharmacy. There is a tiny museum, and they have preserved bullet holes in the walls from the war. You can catch ferries and boats at the port to some of the islands and down to Montenegro. There are also glass-bottom boat excursions, semi-submarine rides, jet skiing, parasailing, kayaking, panoramic boat tours, scuba diving and fishing from Dubrovnik. After a busy day exploring the city, children enjoy taking the cable car up to Mount Srd, where they can look down on the city and the sea. It is a beautiful experience. There is a lovely walk if you don’t want to take the cable car back down. After this, you can head to one of the two Buza bars that sit on the edge of the cliffs at the side of the city wall. They can be accessed through holes in the wall. They are great spots to enjoy a cool refreshment and gorgeous views.

From Villa Emaline, there are several excellent beaches that are easily accessible and provide a great day out for families with kids. Sveti Jakov Beach in Dubrovnik has a restaurant and beach bar, sea kayaking and jet-ski rental, beach volleyball, and is a great day out. The beaches of Stikovica and its neighbour Zaton are delightful, with plenty of charming cafes and some watersports available. There are many others, including some sandy ones on the nearby islands.

We loved everything about Villa Emaline. We felt so lucky to have found it. It's the most perfect place for a group of friends. The villa is so beautiful and the views are out of this world.
Ivan is so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. He organised a very large supermarket shop and our airport transfers, which meant we could just relax and enjoy our special weekend.
Thanks Ivan, we will definitely be back!

  • It was an unforgettable experience

    on 08/05/2022

The villa was decorated beautifully, each room different. We loved the outside space and the hot tub was a great addition. Having the ability to have a chef cook for us too was amazing! Its also just a short walk from the town, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Ivan, the villa owner, was an amazing host too helping me organize everything from transfers to the private chef and a game of thrones tour. Thank you!
