Overview
Set in the heart of picturesque Dubrovnik Old Town, this charming 16th-century property oozes character. Stunningly restored, this townhouse sits on a quiet side street just metres from Stradun Street in the heart of the Old Town, so a whole host of bars, shops, restaurants and popular sites are within walking distance. Sleeping six guests across three bedrooms, it is perfect for a family or group of friends wanting to soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful, historic city.
Enter the attractive traditional double doors with wrought iron detail from the street and climb up the stairs to the first floor to the first bedroom. This fabulous double room will enchant guests with its exposed ceiling beams, traditional dark wood furniture, polished wooden floor and double windows overlooking the street below. Complemented by a smart and stylish en-suite bathroom, it is a wonderfully romantic room, private and secluded from the rest of the property.
In complete contrast, heading up the second flight of stairs guests will find themselves in the delightful living space, a beautifully light and airy room full of original features, lined with four large windows and with exposed, whitewashed ceiling beams, stone walls and glowing wooden floor. Naturally divided by the open staircase, the room is split into two, with the comfortable living area to one side, and the well-equipped kitchen and dining area the other, offering a wonderful space for socialising. Guests can enjoy a leisurely meal seated in the immaculate white kitchen, with the warm breeze drifting in through the open windows while enjoying a glass or two of local wine. Afterwards, the lounge offers an inviting space for drinks and good conversation, which, with its contemporary white sofas and soft rug, creates an ambience of luxury and charm.
Heading up the open staircase to the third floor, guests will discover the other two bedrooms, one double and one twin. Both with characterful sloping ceilings, the bedrooms are charming and comfortable, with crisp, white bedding and colourful artwork. A smart en-suite bathroom leads from the double room where guests can enjoy a relaxing soak in the bath. The second room, with a single pull-out bed, provides a cosy sleeping space for one or two guests and would be ideal for younger guests.

Location
About the surrounding area of Pjesnik HousePjesnik House sits in the heart of ancient Dubrovnik on the stunning Dalmatian coast, overlooking the turquoise sea of the Adriatic and backed by lush green mountains. Largely dating from the 16th century, the city is home to a maze of pretty terracotta-roofed houses and cobbled streets, with the broad stretch of the limestone-paved Stradun main street at its centre. A powerful trading city for hundreds of years, Dubrovnik was heavily damaged during the Croatian War of Independence. Since then, the city has recovered and now prospers as a magnet for tourists who come to admire its architectural beauty and enjoy its cultural delights, including the superb food and wine for which it is increasingly renowned.
The pretty streets of Old Town Dubrovnik are enchanting. At the heart of the city is the Rector’s Palace. This stunning Gothic-Rennaissance building was home to the city’s rectors until the early 19th century. Today it houses the Cultural Historical Museum and has a large display of cultural items, from weapons to furniture. After exploring the museum, guests can head back out onto the Stradun, Dubrovnik’s central pedestrianised street, for lunch or a coffee in one of the many restaurants and bars that line this attractive street, before taking time to browse the shops.
A walk around the city walls is an unmissable experience, offering spectacular views out over the sea and across the city rooftops. Stretching almost two kilometres, the walls are punctuated by six ancient fortresses. Walking tours are available, or you can take time to explore yourself. Game of Thrones fans will appreciate the familiar locations as the city was used as a major filming location for the show. Fort Lovrijenac is perhaps the most famous of the fortresses. Standing high above the city, this impressive, triangular edifice sits 37 metres above the sea and offers stunning views.
The island of Lokrum, just 600 metres off the coast, is a beautiful, thickly wooded and uninhabited island. To get there, taxi boats run regularly from Dubrovnik Old Harbour. Explore the island at your leisure, watching out for the numerous resident peacocks and take a stroll around the botanical garden. Walk up to the old fort, which offers superb views across to Dubrovnik, before enjoying a drink in the café or a swim in the crystal clear waters around the island.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesYounger guests will appreciate the quirkiness of Pjesnik House and enjoy being in the heart of this fascinating city, with no need for long car journeys to see the sights. The top floor bedroom offers a cosy, den-like space for children, and with the double room and en-suite next door, it is an ideal set up for a family.
Dubrovnik is a city to spark the imagination, with its winding streets and imposing city walls, which will thrill younger guests and give them the chance to burn off some energy. Pay a visit to the Fortress of St John, which houses the Maritime Museum. Explore the impressive display of all things marine, from maps and atlases to equipment and weapons that chart Dubrovnik’s history as a seagoing republic. Or head down into the Sea Aquarium, where little ones can gaze in wonder at turtles, starfish and sea horses – all of which are native to the sea around Dubrovnik.
To see the city from a different perspective, take a ride in the cable car which runs from Ploce Gate just outside the city walls and carries visitors up to the top of Mount Srd. Enjoy the spectacular 360-degree views on the way up and linger for a while over a drink or ice cream at the hilltop restaurant before heading back down again.
Little ones keen to dip their toes in the warm blue sea will be spoilt for choice. The city’s very own Banje Beach is within walking distance of the city centre, just beyond the Ploce Gate, and also has plenty of watersports facilities to keep teenagers happy. Alternatively head slightly further to Lapad, a peninsula just two miles west of the city, where there is a wonderful family-friendly beach, with water slides, trampolines and plenty of eateries to keep little tummies happy.
