Overview
So named because this villa will bring joy to your family or group, Villa Joy splays across two levels and is able to house eight guests with its four en-suite bedrooms with their curved roofs and wooden flooring. This is a classic Dalmatian property making use of local stone and beautifully blends traditional materials with all the mod-cons that bring the comfort and sense of home that travellers adore. We know that when you open that front door, you want to feel like you can settle in straight away.
Located in Vinisce, celebrated as a humble fishing village with a picturesque harbour, you’re also in close proximity to Trogir, an old town with UNESCO status. Split airport is also a mere 30 minutes away, making Villa Joy ideally positioned for your arrival, trips to the beach and of course to the cafes, restaurants and supermarkets that abound in the area.
Sea views are available from each bedroom and each also boasts its own balcony, a wonderful way to start the day with some fresh air, a meditation, cup of tea or a journaling session.
The pool is peppered with sun loungers and the villa includes a BBQ for families who wish to replicate this wholesome family experience. The beach is nearby which allows for plenty of sunset walks. You can fall asleep to the gentle lull of the sea, and look out at the stars before bed. Beautifully set on the beachfront, you can get to the sand and sea as soon as you wish. With a kitchen and indoor dining area, the beauty within is parallel to the beauty outside. Even if you spend your holiday enjoying roaming in your villa without exploring beyond, you’ll find yourself in paradise.
The neighbouring area is quiet which brings peace and privacy to families. The property owner discretely lives on site.
The property itself is traditional and authentically Croatian which is all part of its charisma, but you’ll find everything you need for a completely modern stay. The views are unbeatable, showing the Adriatic and the red tops of the neighbouring properties. These are views worth waking up (and staying up for.)

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa JoyThe villa is located in Vinisce, a picturesque fishing village with a lovely harbour. It’s a quiet area, but there’s still lots to do. You can rent your own boat via the harbour and explore the local area by sea – a very unique and magical experience especially given the clarity of the water. There are numerous sandy and pebbled beaches for days of luxuriating and swimming, and the gentle pace of village life is enjoyable to take in. This is a place where relaxation, rest, swimming and eating reign supreme so be prepared to adopt a slower way of life – the locals will show you how.
You’re also very close to Trogir, an old town registered with UNESCO. From here you can enjoy the unique architectural melee and pretty cathedrals and castles that make this area so inviting. If you want to get a taste of culture, art and history, you’ll find that here.
You may also wish to explore nearby Marinska Kula, a tower built in the 15th century to defend the channel between the marina and mainland. The village of Marina’s beach front is the best place to venture for a swim if you’re so inclined.
Krknjasi Bay, or Blue Lagoon as it’s otherwise known, can be walked to, although the walk itself is long. Visiting by car is best. Swimming shoes are advised due to the rocky terrain but the water itself is the selling point for those who enjoy swimming and snorkelling – its beautiful translucent water can be hard to replicate elsewhere. It’s also a wonderful area to explore by boat.
For those intrigued by fishing, there are many fishing expeditions, with Seget Nautica Boat Tours being a great agent. Kayaking is also recommended, anything that gets you closer to that water!
You may also choose to visit further afield and head to Split, with its endless opportunities for art, history, culture and food, as well as its beautiful waterfront, a perfect spot for people watching and allowing the world to go by.
Day to day, your closest locations are quaint local villages, ideal for those who want to escape the rush and crush of ordinary life and enjoy something that feels like it could be from another world.

Best Suited For: All AgesVinisce, the fishing village where you’ll be based, has a population of under 1000 people and is incredibly safe. Other than fishing, it’s renowned for tourism, and your family will be welcomed here. Exploring the local area with children is secure, take them to see the pretty harbour and rent a boat so that you can get out on the water as a family.
There are many beaches in the area, some sandy and some pebbled, so shoes are recommended. Swimming, donning goggles and a snorkel is a great way to spend time as there’s such rich aquatic life beneath the water. Walks, restaurants, swims and relaxation is what Vinisce is all about and you may find the gentle pace feels almost like a lullaby to young children.
If you want to explore further afield, renting a car and exploring Trogir is worthwhile, blessed as it is with castles and cathedrals. Other points of interest include Marinska Kula, close to the village of Marina. You can head to the beach front for a meal and swim with your little ones.

There are ample opportunities to take boat trips and fishing expeditions, as well as to indulge in kayaking or other water sports. It’s really about being open to all the ways you can get out on the water and embrace village life.
If the pace of life feels too slow, you may wish to take a day out to enjoy Split, which is home to a great deal of restaurants, beaches, culture, art and a great waterfront. If you want to go further afield still, you could head to Dubrovnik if you’re prepared for an early start, and show your family the famous walled city.
Slow and steady wins the race when you stay here. Take your time to sync with the pace of local life and go with the flow.
