You can enjoy such stunning, panoramic views of the dazzling sea, Makarska and the magnificent mountains from Villa Voldemars. Set on the hillside just above Makarska, Villa Voldemars is fabulous, contemporary and sleeps six guests in three beautiful bedrooms, as well as two extra guests on a sofa bed in the living room.

Makarska is a city of beautiful scenery, buzzy activity, historical sites and wonderful restaurants.

The villa’s gorgeous, heated infinity pool is so cool with views to the sea. In front of the villa are pretty landscaped gardens. The sun loungers and lounge furniture on the sunny terrace are modern, superior quality and so comfortable. The outdoor lounge area is a great spot for a morning cup of coffee with the mountains and fragrant pinewoods as a backdrop. The white stone and glass look amazing against the brilliant green vegetation and the bright blue sea and sky! It is all so serene and peaceful. At the back of the house, amongst wonderful planting, is a large outside dining area and a wonderful stone barbecue.

When you enter the villa from the pool area, there is a downstairs kitchen, dining and lounge area and also one of the lovely king bedrooms. Upstairs there is a stunning, seriously glam, all-white living area with another dining space and kitchen. It is so smart with an open fire when needed. It leads to a lovely balcony with stunning views and outdoor furniture. The second king bedroom also has a lovely balcony to appreciate the beauty of the natural surroundings. The third bedroom is a twin. There is plenty of storage for holiday clothes. The two shower rooms are so sleek and modern.

The beautiful Makarska Riviera stretches between Brela and Gradac with incredible beaches, fragrant pine forests, glistening turquoise sea and lovely quiet bays.

Makarska itself is built around a deep, sheltered bay and backed by the dramatic rocky heights of Mount Biokovo. Makarska town is excellent for nightlife and restaurants. Some typical dishes are the delicious Bikovo cheese and ‘Kastradina’ which is a stew made with dried and smoked lamb, mutton or goat meat. It has a fabulous, palm lined promenade with cosmopolitan cafes, bars and unique boutiques and deluxe yachts in the harbour. You can book many boat trips out the magical Zlatni Rat beach in Bol on Brac Island and Jelsa on Hvar. The lovely main square of Makarska Town is overlooked by the Baroque Church of St Mark and several elegant palazzi built by wealthy local merchants. It is full of open-air restaurants and cafes, and the daily market behind the church sells fresh local produce.

The main draw of this area though is the beaches. They are stunning, some with banana rides and jet skis for hire.

Baska Voda is a small, pretty village just 9km north of Makarska and just south of Brela. Once a humble fishing village, Baska Voda’s beaches, pine woods and lovely setting have made it very popular for seaside tourism.

The magnificent Biokovo Mountain is incredible for hiking. The Biokovo Nature Park has stunning scenery, wild horses and goats, the remains of old settlements, alpine plants, forests and wild flowers. It is so beautiful when you leave the beach for a day.

Region

Makarska, perched between the Biokovo mountain range and the glistening waters of the Adriatic Sea, is a stunning destination where nature's grandeur takes centre stage. The imposing mountains rise dramatically behind the town, creating a striking backdrop for the entire region. With its distinct Mediterranean climate, visitors can expect warm summers and mild winters, making it an ideal year-round destination.

The Riva - the town's seafront promenade - is a focal point of the community, where locals and visitors alike gather to soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere. Lined with palm trees and a variety of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, the Riva is the perfect place to unwind, take in the scenic views of the sea and settle into the Croatian pace of life. As the sun sets over the Adriatic, Makarska comes alive with a vibrant nightlife scene. The Riva transforms into a lively hub of entertainment, with street performers, live music, DJ sets, and a chance to mingle with locals and fellow travellers.

If you're a history enthusiast, Makarska's rich heritage and historic sites will surely pique your interest. The Church of St. Mark, built in the early 18th century, stands as a testament to the region's strong Catholic tradition. The Baroque architecture and stunning altarpieces make it a notable religious landmark.

For a deeper dive into the past, the Makarska Franciscan Monastery, founded in the 16th century, houses an impressive collection of artefacts including ancient manuscripts and artwork. The monastery's cloister and church are architectural marvels in their own right. Within the complex, the Malacological Museum showcases an extensive collection of seashells, a testament to the region's maritime heritage.

The Makarska Riviera boasts a series of blue-flag beaches and crystal-clear waters, ensuring a perfect setting for relaxation and water activities. The most famous is the Makarska Beach itself, stretching for almost 2 kilometres and offering a plethora of water sports, sunbathing spots, and beachfront cafes. While sunbathing and swimming are the primary draws, you can also indulge in snorkelling, paddle-boarding, and jet skiing to experience the vibrant underwater world of the Adriatic.

Heading north along the Makarska Riviera, you’ll come to the town of Brela, famed for its pristine beaches. One of the best, Punta Rata, is often ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world. The crystal-clear waters and the iconic Brela Rock jutting from the sea make it a picture-perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming.

The Biokovo Nature Park, often overshadowed by the coast, offers a different but equally wonderful experience. Here, the rugged mountain terrain allows for hiking, trekking, and adventure in the heart of nature. There are several well-marked trails that lead you through lush forests, up to the highest peak of Sveti Jure (St. George), providing breathtaking panoramic views of the Adriatic and the surrounding islands.

Day trips to nearby destinations are also a great way to explore the broader region. The islands of Hvar and Brač are easily accessible by ferry and make for fantastic day excursions. Hvar is known for its beautiful old town and lavender fields, while Brač is famous for the stunning Zlatni Rat beach.

This enchanting coastal region, characterised by its stunning beaches, rugged mountains, and vibrant atmosphere, is undoubtedly a place that leaves a lasting impression. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the diversity of the Dalmatian region. Whether you're a nature lover, history buff, or simply in search of a relaxing coastal escape, Makarska offers something for every traveller.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages

Villa Voldermars is ideal for a family. The area has so many lovely beaches to enjoy. Makarska has many ice-cream parlours – children will be so delighted! The Makarska Observatory is very interesting. There are special steps for small children to observe through the telescope. Usually, there are clear skies so you can see the moon, and even Mars, Saturn!

ZipLine Tucepi, just south of Makarska, is fantastic for an afternoon out with children. Young children can ride tandem with the zip line guide. The six steel cables stretch across the beautiful canyon. Flying along at high speeds in this wonderful natural countryside is so thrilling!

Rafting on the Cetina River is one of the most popular and most attended adventure outings in Dalmatia. Children can swim, jump off rocks, kayak and zip line at really high speeds across the canyon as well as taking the rafting trip. If they have not had enough zip lining at Tucepi, there are another eight wires with an overall length of 2100m here. The longest wire is 700m. It is crazy!

The magnificent waterfalls at Krka National Park are so spectacular. You can enjoy the beautiful views and stroll through nature. The waters of the River Krka are wonderful and refreshing with 17 natural waterfalls including Skradinski Buk, the largest of them which you can swim and jump in.

  • You will not regret it!

    on 26/08/2022

Until you see it for yourself you do not believe that such place exist! We also thought that this will be just another villa that we would like and forget about after sometime. But we were so wrong. From day one we were treated from the owner like we were dearest friends. He was so helpful with his great restaurant tips and advices. They also have winery and on the ground floor there is a excellent tavern with exquisite wine selection. If you book this house be sure to arrange a wine tour. You will not regret it!

  • Absolutely fantastic location!

Absolutely fantastic location! Peace and quiet all around! Magnificent view of the sea and mountains only a couple of hundred meters away! The magical feeling of complete serenity in the morning while drinking coffee! We woke up earlier than usual just to catch the sunrise and see the most tranquil sea we have ever seen!
