Overview

Pool Modern Walk to Beach

If you are looking for a secluded, peaceful Croatian getaway surrounded with stunning, untouched nature and with the beach just metres from your garden with barely a soul in sight, then Villa Viktors has to be a great contender. With eight lovely bedrooms and an unusual set up with three living rooms and three kitchens, this villa would be ideal for an extended family or a group of friends that might like a little space of their own from time to time.

Located in Betina, right at the heart of the island of Murter, in the necklace of islands off the mainland coast between Sibenik and Zadar, Villa Viktors is so amazing with an incredible outside space and even a boat at your disposal if you have a licence.

With no close neighbours at all, this position is marvellous. The garden is brimming with ancient olive trees, pines, cypress, mandarin, agaves, rosemary and dazzling, colourful plants. It is so fragrant too! There is so much space and different levels to enjoy, all with spectacular views. The pool is excellent with many sun loungers and parasols and various lounge areas around to enjoy a glass of wine, morning coffee or to read that holiday book. You cannot fail to relax in this peaceful haven. The pool area has an outdoor shower, dressing room and bathroom as well as a cute mini playground for children. It will be wonderful to sit on the terrace in the comfy furniture and watch the sun go down and later to look at the sparkling stars. The ground floor dining terrace has two tables, so there is plenty of space for the whole villa group. There is a huge, stone barbecue for delicious alfresco suppers. How special to walk out and sunbathe on your very own piece of the beach!

On the ground floor of this fabulous villa, there is a very spacious open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. On the first floor, there are four bedrooms, four bathrooms as well as extra living spaces and kitchens and a huge balcony. The views are to die for! The second floor has a further four bedrooms and bathrooms. This villa really is a harmonious oasis and a fantastic space for a large group.

This wonderful villa is in a lovely spot near Betina on the beautiful, picturesque island of Murter, a stunning Dalmation island covered with age-old olive groves, fig trees and plenty of charm. Murter has a very indented coastline so has many bays. The most popular of which are on the south side of the island, protected from the wind. Slanica is the main beach with lovely shallow water, sand and rocks. Podvrske has gorgeous white sand and turquoise water with a fabulous view of the Kornati Islands. Surrounded by fragrant pine woods, Cigrade is excellent if you are seeking peace and solitude.

The island has four towns, the older ones are Murter and Jezera, and the newer ones are Tisno and Betina. There are many restaurants and cafes on Murter serving delicious fresh ingredients such as octopus, polenta with cuttlefish and monkfish stew. Hiking and cycling are very popular on this lovely island.

Murter is reached by a bridge from the mainland. Popular trips from this location are to Zadar, Sibenik, Trogir or Split. Zadar is rich in history and natural beauty. You can quietly wander around the marble streets and marvel at the splendid sunsets. The film director and master of suspense Hitchcock described it as ‘the most beautiful sunset in the world’. To celebrate these breathtaking sunsets a ‘Monument to the Sun’ was built on the edge of the Zadar waterfront. It is an all day, 22-metre disc which soaks up the solar rays only to dazzle visitors with coloured light patterns as night falls. The Sea Organ is an art installation formed by cleverly cutting steps into the promenade. The underwater pipes make musical sounds as if each wave is sighing! Sibenik is a UNESCO fortress city with the gorgeous Cathedral of St James dominating the historic old town.

Guests on Murter that want more entertainment, generally head to Vodice or Pirovac.

Region

Cradled along the shimmering shores of the Adriatic Sea, Šibenik is an ancient coastal city that sits equidistance from the larger and busier cities of Zadar and Split. By contrast to these larger destinations, Šibenik offers a glimpse into a more local way of life. With its well-preserved medieval core, magnificent fortresses, and the ethereal beauty of Krka National Park at its doorstep, Šibenik is a destination that captivates the hearts of travellers seeking an authentic Croatian experience.

Šibenik's Old Town is home to one of Croatia’s ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the iconic Cathedral of St. James. The cathedral is a true masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, a testament to human ingenuity and craftsmanship. The intricate frieze that adorns the cathedral's exterior tells stories from the Bible and local history, leaving visitors in awe of the skill and artistry of the craftsmen who dedicated their lives to this grand project. Stepping inside, the awe-inspiring interior of the cathedral continues to leave visitors breathless with its intricate stone vaulting and a serene atmosphere.

A visit to the Šibenik City Museum reveals the rich maritime history of the region, showcasing ancient ship models, navigational instruments, and artefacts from the city's seafaring past. Šibenik's maritime heritage is also celebrated during the annual International Children's Festival, a tradition that dates back to 1958 and unites children from all over the world in a cultural exchange of art and music. Children from around the world participate in various artistic and cultural activities, making it a unique experience for young travellers.

Šibenik’s calendar comes alive with festivals and cultural events throughout the year. The Šibenik Evening of Dalmatian Chanson is a tribute to the region's musical heritage, where local and international artists perform the soulful songs of Dalmatia. For those seeking a more contemporary cultural experience, the Terraneo Music Festival brings renowned musicians and electronic music enthusiasts to the city. This eclectic blend of events ensures there's always something happening in Šibenik, from lively street performances to classical concerts in historic settings.

Just a short drive from the city, Krka National Park is a haven of cascading waterfalls, lush greenery, and crystalline rivers. The park's centrepiece is the Skradinski Buk waterfall, a stunning series of cascades that plummet into a serene pool. The park is not only a feast for the eyes but also a sanctuary for diverse wildlife, including various bird species and aquatic life. Hiking trails and wooden walkways wind through the park, allowing visitors to explore its beauty at their own pace.

A boat trip along the Krka River offers a unique perspective on the park's natural wonders and historical sites, including the Visovac Monastery, a peaceful island sanctuary that has stood for centuries.

Šibenik is a gateway to the stunning Dalmatian islands that dot the Adriatic Sea. Day trips or longer island-hopping adventures are easily arranged from the city's port. Islands like Kornati, Prvić, and Zlarin offer pristine beaches, clear waters, and the opportunity to experience the tranquility of island life. Kornati National Park, also known as the "nautical paradise," is a sailor's dream, with its rugged islands and countless coves. Charter a boat or join an organised tour to explore this unique archipelago, which is a protected natural wonder and a playground for divers and snorkelers.

Whether you're wandering the picturesque cobbled streets of the Old Town, basking in the natural splendour of Krka National Park, or savouring traditional dishes in local eateries, Šibenik promises an unforgettable journey through history and the magic of the Mediterranean.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages

Villa Viktors really is a child’s paradise. The garden and pool are incredible. There is so much space, and the mini-playground is great for small children. To have their own beach on their doorstep is a real blessing and the outdoor shower and bathroom are very helpful.

There are many splendid beaches on the island and much hiking, cycling, fishing, kayaking, and even paintballing that children will enjoy. There is a Falconry Centre in Dubrava that was opened in 2000 to protect birds of prey and educate visitors about wildlife conservation. It is home to a collection of injured birds which they return to the wild. It is so interesting to visit.

Etnoland is a family run historical and cultural site next to the Krka National Park and the city of Sibenik. You will enjoy authentic, interactive and entertaining storytelling and taste delicious, famous ‘Drnis prsut’ smoked ham and family-style traditional peka. Of course, the renowned Krka National Park is such an adventure and a memorable day out. This wonderful park covers 142 sqkm with its top attraction being the magnificent Skradinski Buk waterfalls. You sail through the park and admire this dramatic and fantastic scenery. Don’t forget to pack swimming things as you can plunge in the water below the waterfall. It is so wonderful.
