Just 50m from the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic is the delightful Villa Aslej with its lush gardens and glorious swimming pool.  On the enchanting island of Hvar, just minutes from the family-friendly town of Jelsa, this villa is ideal for those looking for high-end comfort in a superb area.

Even on hot summer days you’ll be able to find a shady spot in the lovely terraced gardens, whether lounging by the gazebo, enjoying a long lunch on the al-fresco dining terrace or sipping chilled wine near the pool. The mature cypress and palm trees tower over the well-tended gardens and bright colours of Mediterranean flora surround you.  Walk down the stone steps to the front gate and you’re metres away from the pine-backed beaches and swimming platforms that stretch along this pretty part of the coast.

Inside the interiors are warm, cosy and beautifully styled with eye-catching detail such as intricately painted sinks, vibrant art-work and bold colours.  All four bedrooms have air-conditioning including the master double upstairs with its pretty balcony and roof terrace with glorious glimpses of the shimmering sea, the perfect spot for a sundowner.  You will be well looked after here with daily house-keeping plus the villa has modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, satellite television and DVD player.

The villa is located in a partially residential area close to pine forests, secluded coves and pretty bays.  There is a shop and restaurant nearby and it’s only a few minutes drive to the characterful tavernas of Jelsa (1.8km) and the charming village of Vbroska (2.2km). The island of Hvar is yours to discover, whether it is wine-tasting in local vineyards, kayaking at sun-set along the coast, cycling and hiking across the countryside or exploring the villages and towns on the island.

Whether you are with family or friends, Villa Aslej is a wonderful holiday home in a special location, it is sure to inspire a love for this beautiful island.

Villa Aslej is located in an upmarket partially residential area just north of Jelsa, only 50m from the waterfront. You only have wander across the road and past one row of villas to reach the sea where you will find rocky beaches and swimming platforms backed by pretty cypress trees and some lovely pebbly bays within a short walk. The nearest grocery store and restaurant are under a kilometre but take a torch if you are walking back in the dark.

Heading south to Jelsa (1.8km), just a few minutes by car, you can enjoy fresh fish and local wine in a decent choice of tavernas and restaurants plus small supermarkets and further facilities. It is a great base for exploring this part of the island. You can walk or cycle through the dense pine forests, discover pretty beaches and coves or take boat excursions a little further afield. There are numerous walking tours that start from Jelsa and various trekking paths across the island.

Children and adults alike will love the nearby Adventure Park (1km) with paint-balling for all ages, quad biking, archery, bocce, beach volleyball, trampolines and giant boxing amongst other unusual but fun activities. Those who love watersports can find centres in Jelsa or head to Zavala (10km) on the remote southern coast.

The picturesque little town of Vrboska (2.2km) is just a short drive north. It has many pretty bridges over the narrow fjord, giving it the nickname Little Venice, and some pretty historical features in the village itself as well as a Fisherman’s museum. Just a short walk through the pine forests north of Vrboska brings you to the delightful beach of Soline, very popular with families on the island.  You can also hike between Vrboska and Jelsa, passing Villa Aslej en route, walking past secluded coves and some naturist beaches.

The island of Hvar is yours to discover, whether it is wine-tasting in local vineyards, kayaking at sun-set along the coast, cycling across the countryside or exploring the villages and towns on the island.

Stari-Grad (10km), one of the main ports for arrivals from Split, was founded by the Greeks in 400 BC and is the oldest settlement on the island. Nearby you will find Stari Grad Plain, a cultural landscape dating back from the Greeks in the 4th century BC, now a UNESCO heritage site.  Or head to the glitz and glamour of Hvar Town (30km) which has recently gained a reputation as one of Croatia’s trendiest destinations.

Also, don’t miss Humac (13km), a sixteeth century hamlet without electricity set upon a hilltop on this remote and beautiful part of the island.  Here you will find a restaurant that serves by candle-light with all food cooked on the open-fire, do book well in advance though.
