Located in the exclusive Cap Estate at the northern tip of the tropical Island of St Lucia, Villa Calabash is set amongst the lush 1500 acres of rolling hills between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea that this gated community offers. With an 18-hole championship golf course just 1km away and several beaches right on your doorstep, you won’t need to go far to enjoy your beautiful surroundings. And whilst the immediate area offers complete tranquillity, the vibrancy of Rodney bay is just 3km down the road.

Beautiful Pigeon Island National Park, a picturesque 44-acre national landmark that boasts a beautiful white sandy beach set amongst stunning scenery can be reached 2km from the villa. After soaking up the sunshine and swimming in the azure waters, you can visit the museum or climb to the vantage point of the historic Fort Rodney for awe-inspiring views including that of neighbouring island Martinique. For a different beach experience head in the opposite direction to the dramatic Atlantic coast where adrenaline junkies will have the opportunity to kite surf or wind board at Plantation Beach just 2km away.

Other notable beaches include the natural black sandy beach of Anse Chastane 52km south, where scuba divers and snorkelers will love to glide around most of the Island’s beautiful coral reef and all its fantastical offerings. Nature lovers might like to head to Grande Anse 23km south on the Atlantic Coast, where you can watch endangered leatherbacks crawl out of the water and lay their eggs on the shores. Or for family fun head to Reduit Beach 5km away, where banana boats whiz across the water and beach front bars pump out lively music. It’s also home to Splash Island Water Park, an essential excursion for kids of all ages.

For lively town life, you have Rodney Bay just a five-minute drive away with its bustling nightlife and attractive marina bursting with glamorous supersized yachts, and great restaurants. A short distance from the marina, you’ll find Rodney Bay’s huge shopping complex; The Baywalk Mall. A hotspot for shoppers across Saint Lucia, this incredible centre has over eighty shops, a huge variety of restaurants and the only casino on the island.

The authentic St Lucian vibe however can be found in Gros Islet just a few minutes from Villa Calabash, where the historic streets are lined with rum shops and fishing shacks draped with drying nets, and the sound of reggae can always be heard day and night. Delve into culinary delights such as freshly cut coconut, BBQ chicken and freshly caught cod, and party the night away at a Jump Up – the fabulous rum infused street parties this area is famous for.

This dynamic Island offers such a wide range of activities. Head to the epic rainforest in the south and take the canopy tour or for the brave, try ziplining through the trees. If hiking trails are for you then perched along the southwest coast and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the dramatic twin peaks of Gros Piton and Petit Piton are among the Caribbean island’s most memorable landmarks. Or for the more sedate, why not have a soak in the Sulphur Springs, near Soufriere in the south. This healing mud pool is part of the world's only drive-in volcano. However, you like to spend your time, there is something for everyone on the Island of St Lucia and all within easy reach by car.

About the Island & Getting There

About St Lucia

The Land, The People, The Light – St Lucia’s motto couldn’t be more representative of this captivating sovereign island nation. Witness dazzling scenery, be spellbound by the fascinating locals and allow for St Lucia to brighten your day and show you a new way to life.

St Lucia gained its independence from the British Commonwealth in 1979 and after centuries of a French presence, which is most visible today in the original Capital of Soufrière, St Lucia is famous for its Pitons & landscapes and vivacious community.

St Lucia really is a hiker’s Nirvana! Where to start? That’s a tough question. However, with the likes of - The Diamond Botanical Gardens, Enbas Saut Waterfall Trail, Pigeon Island National Park, Sulphur Springs Park Scenic Drive and Tet Paul Nature Trail – it doesn’t matter! These UNESCO listed sites are a sight to behold. If you're likely to take to the water, you'll be able to admire the rich marine biodiversity just off the shore of St Lucia. Over 60% of the marine area is made up of coral reefs and these are very poular with snorkelers and scuba divers. Just make sure you put time aside to relish these privileged land & seascapes.

Start your cultural trip downtown in Castries. Here you will be provided with more than enough entertainment for an afternoon and evening. The local Market runs throughout the week and is certainly the right place to come for exotic fruits and tantalising Street Food - the Green Fig & Salt Fish is local delicacy and it's not scarce, so perhaps try a few variants on this regional intricacy and let us know which is your favourite! The vendors are incredibly animated, so expect a show to be put on if you choose to explore this part of the island and brush up on those haggling skills. La Place Carenage and Point Seraphine are very popular Malls and if you bear in mind the added incentive of these complexes being Duty-Free, you and your guests will certainly get some good deals (A taxi back to your villa after such an excursion is suggested!).

Many holiday makers are surprised to learn of St Lucia’s rich cocoa legacy. Ever since the 1700’s this island has been producing cocoa related products, that are incredibly sought after all across the world. Morne Coubaril Estate and La Dauphine Estate specialise in showcasing how plantations use to gather & manufacture the Cocoa Bean fruit and organise educational tours. After learning all about St Lucia’s former booming cocoa industry, you will probably need some therapy…how about chocolate therapy like you’ve never encountered before? Enquire at some of the islands more renowned Spas and you’ll be able to experience the benefits of a chocolate facial and massage. Remember - Chocolate isn’t a food, it’s a medicine!

We have selected some of the most exciting villas on the island, so browse through these dreamy holiday homes and have a look at our cheeky little guide to St Lucia!

Prior to Booking

  • Serene retreat!

    Posted by Lesley on 18/11/2018

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Calabash. Our time by the pool and in the hammock on the balcony where we spent enjoying this lovely weather was perfect. It was great that they have games to play when the weathers not so perfect or in the evening if you don’t want to watch TV. They really have all the amenities of home here. We did a private tour through Stanis taxi service and we couldn’t say better things about it to people. Thank you for sharing your home!

  • Most chilled out holiday we’ve ever had!!

    Posted by Lynne on 27/10/2018

We have just spent a week in this wonderful villa on the beautiful island of St Lucia. I have never felt so unhappy to go home before. Normally I look forward to getting into my own bed but not this time. The bed in the master suite was massive and so comfortable. I now feel I NEED that walk in wardrobe and huge en suite bathroom. We chose this villa because it looked very Caribbean and homely and that’s just what it was. We went to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday and she loved it. Neither her or her sister wanted to leave. We spent most of our mornings by the pool and our afternoons at the beach then out for dinner at night. The house is so close to everything but secluded and quiet. We were picked up from the airport by Stanis who has the biggest smile and kindest nature. He also took us on a land and sea tour which we all agreed was the highlight of our holiday. We saw the Piton mountains, waterfalls, the volcano, banana plantation, mud bathes, botanical garden and had lunch at a beautiful resort. Then a cruise on a catamaran with snorkelling and lots of rum punch and dancing. It was such a fab day, if you want to see all the famous sites on the island then choose this trip as you see everything. We spent a day at Pigeon Island which is amazing. The beach and sea are so special and if you can climb to the top then you must as the views are to die for. I could have listened to his stories and experiences forever. We especially liked his dog Sheba, she made our week as we felt guilty for leaving ours behind. So if you want to get away from everyday life at home and really chill out, I highly recommend this house and this island. It’s a memory made which we will cherish forever.
