The resort boasts 16 romantic cottages and luxury villas designed by Armani architect Gabriella Giuntoli and Salvatore Perna, blending gorgeous Balinese elements together with Italian and Caribbean aesthetics to create a chic, unique, bohemian beachfront boutique resort. The cottages are extremely popular with those looking for their very own slice of paradise for an intimate, relaxed getaway. Guests enjoy the wonderful yoga pavilion, the fresh water swimming pool, the fabulous Asian spa and its wellness treatments, the atmospheric Italian restaurant, the sunset bar, watersports and a very warm welcome. Portici Bay is located on the southwestern coast of this phenomenal island, 5 minutes from the famous Grand Anse beach and a wonderful array of restaurants and very close to St George’s.

The one bedroom La Luna Cottage Suites are semi-detached romantic havens featuring breezy open plan design. They are very spacious and beautifully appointed with luxurious Balinese styling. The bedroom is enormous and boasts an incredible four-poster Balinese kingsize bed adorned with luxury Bellora Italian linen. How romantic is that! With gorgeous warm tones throughout and views to die for from the upper hillside, you cannot fail to feel special and indulged. French doors open from the bedroom to a delightful private veranda with its welcome plunge pool and a fabulous covered deck where you can relax on the Balinese daybed. The Cottage Suites offer flat screen televisions and bluetooth speakers for your enjoyment and a minibar with complimentary water plus tea and coffee. The open style bathroom is complete with luxurious Italian bath products, bathrobes and hair dryer. There is a walk-in closet with a safe, umbrella and yoga mats for guests. The resort offers amazing hospitality and amenities including its authentic Asian Spa, beachfront yoga pavilion, thatched roof Italian restaurant, sunset bar, sculpture garden and art studio. It is a favourite with honeymooners, couples celebrating an anniversary or special occasion, weddings and families who stay in the luxury villas. For additional fees, guests can board La Luna’s luxury catamaran ‘Uendalina’ for sunset sailing and snorkeling at the Underwater Sculpture Park. The oasis swimming pool is framed by the emerald sea and surrounded by tastefully appointed teak loungers. To thoroughly unwind, the Asian spa awaits with Balinese massages, four-handed Indonesian massages, Tatami massages, detox mud wraps, Vichy Rain shower treatments and much more. For a real treat, you could have a personal healing session. You can start your day with complimentary yin, vinyasa, or hatha yoga on the beach or pilates. With gorgeous beach and organic garden views, the well-equipped technogym offers a treadmill, elliptical cross trainers, an exercise bike, upper body trainers, a multigym, benches and free weights and a boxing bag. The open-air yoga pavilion is home to a Wednesday night movie night where guests can relax on bean bag chairs and enjoy a great choice of films. Grenada is a beautiful island only 12 miles wide and 21 miles long. It boasts a mountainous and volcanic terrain reaching heights of over 2750 feet on the top of Mount St Catherine, stunning sandy beaches, crater lakes, waterfalls, rainforests and exquisite coral reefs. The three islands of Grenada, Grenada, Garriacou and Petit Martinique, are located in the Eastern Caribbean. Grenada is known as the ‘Spice Isle’ due to its abundance of locally ground spices including nutmeg, mace, cinnamon, ginger and cloves and its culture of music, dance and food. You can literally smell the nutmeg in the air! It is one of the most beautiful of the Caribbean islands. Visitors can enjoy amazing hikes in the national parks, game fishing, yachting, watersports, tennis, golf, beach days and visits to chocolate, rum and nutmeg factories. There is a wonderful nightlife, excellent markets and fabulous music.

There are many attractions on the island including the Craft and Spice market, Belmont Estate, Rivers Antoine Rum Distillery, The Spice Basket, Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park, Nutmeg Processing Cooperative, Fort Frederik and Fort George and of course the wonderful beaches. The Underwater Water Park at Molinere Bay, just north of St George’s and not far from La Luna is amazing. It is a project founded by British artist Jason de Caires Taylor. There are 80 pieces in more than a dozen main works. The life-size sculptures include a man at a desk and a circle of children. Fish and sponges have created a fascinating mix of culture and nature. The park is accessible to snorkelers and divers.

Also fascinating in the Nutmeg Processing Cooperative on Gouyave’s main road. It is so important to Grenada’s heritage and is an enormous nutmeg processing station. The tours are very interesting through rows of drying racks which are covered with the fruit of nutmeg trees descended from the first ones planted by the British in 1843.

River Antoine Rum Distillery has been producing fiery rum since 1785. Tours cover all aspects of the smoky, pungent production process from the crushing of cane to fermentation and distillation. You can taste and buy the potent rum. The Belmont Estate, similarly educates you on the chocolate process, showing traditional rural life at its best. The Spice Basket is a cultural theatre and tourist centre with a very extensive West Indian Cricket Museum.

It is good to explore the lush interior of the island, especially the waterfalls. You can visit Annadale Falls for drive-in access or hike to Concorde or Seven Sisters Waterfalls. You can rent a car or take a private tour driving up the west coast past St George’s and the Kirani James Athletic Stadium. You can visit the factories and distilleries and head towards the little fishing village of Grenville. Then you can head into the Grand Etang National Park to explore the forest and mountains. You may even get a greeting from a mona monkey!

Shopping is excellent on Grenada. You can visit Spiceland Mall, Grenada’s American style shopping centre in Grand Anse, fabulous arts, crafts and Batik clothing shops in St George’s or the Craft and Spice Market on Grand Anse Beach. Hilly St George’s is one of the region’s most attractive capitals. You can squeeze onto a public minibus to visit if you like. At The Carenage you can wander past the pretty moored fishing boats and the Georgian-era government buildings climbing up to Fort George. There are wonderful panoramic views to be enjoyed. Grand Anse is one of the finest Grenada beaches with fine white sand, sun loungers and the Craft and Spice market on the northern end.
