La Paloma is a wonderful five-bedroom villa situated near Fitts Village, right on the Bajan coastline. The interior of the villa has been fashioned with a colonial style plantation house ambiance in mind. This is particularly noticeable when you enter the villa and are greeted by the living and dining areas, both of which have vintage wood finish incorporated into much of their furnishings.

The ground floor of the main house is linked by an interior staircase and consists of the large master bedroom with king size bed and en-suite shower room, the second bedroom has a Queen size four poster bed that is accompanied with a ceiling fan and en-suite shower room, a large sitting/dining room with Cablevision television & CD and cassette stereo, all of which leads onto a spacious patio enjoying a spectacular sea view.

The top floor comprises of four spacious bedrooms, one queen bedroom and the remaining bedrooms possessing twin beds (these can be joined to create King beds). The beach facing bedrooms lead onto a large terrace that runs almost the whole length of the villa and offer remarkable views of the west coast of Barbados, from which you can enjoy mealtime or drinks.

The garden is really the ideal location to relax after a long day of sightseeing and sampling local produce. The lawn area spills on the beach, where the sound of the soothing waves will put anyone weary travellers mind at ease. The garden has a white stone private plunge pool, surrounded by plush gardens that have been well-kept.

When visiting Barbados, the first thing you are sure to notice are the gorgeous and renowned flat white sand beaches. On the west coast of Barbados, miles of coral shore beaches and fine white sands stretch along a hypnotising turquoise sea. The West Coast of Barbados is also fringed with countless breath-taking Coral Reefs to provide excellent snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. The South Coast also offers something for everyone, and is a curious mixture of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Here you can swim in calm waters, snorkel over the inshore reefs and tidal pools, and at the southernmost tip of the island, you can windsurf.

Situated in the Parish of Saint James, the villa is only a quarter mile away from the range of shopping facilities in Holetown. You will only be five miles away from the island’s capital, Bridgetown, where you will find plenty to be discovered. For shopping, try Broad Street and Swan Street where you’ll also be greeted with the lively music and atmosphere of the local culture. Bridgetown itself is a fantastic historical site and an ode to British colonial architecture built during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The downtown part of Bridgetown and it’s Garrison was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2012.

About the Island & Getting There

About Barbados

At first glance you could be mistaken for thinking that Barbados is purely a beach holiday destination, but you're urged to reconsider this common belief. The island of Barbados is peppered with astonishing landscapes (both coastal and inland), enchanting locals, sublime cuisine, intriguing rums, fascinating wildlife, symbolic architecture and a selection of striking holiday villas.

Delve deep into the history of the island and start your holiday by visiting Sunbury Plantation House & Museum. This former plantation was built in 1660's and the premises are scattered with antiquities that delicately detail a recent history of Barbados. St. Nicholas Abbey also provides an insightful representation of Sugarcane production, Bajan artefacts and a wonderful observation point at Cherry Tree Hill. If you’re keen to visit one of the oldest Parliamentary buildings within the Commonwealth and appreciate the democratic legacy of Barbados, drop by The Parliament Buildings. This neo-gothic congress can be found in Bridgetown and act as a representation of Barbados’s Independence. There is so much history present throughout the island and as a result, Bridgetown and its Garrison has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, which the locals are very proud of.

Great efforts have been made to persevere the natural beauty of Barbados, so if you’re drawn to the exploration of National Parks and multicoloured gardens, it won’t take you long to realise that Barbados is a haven for such paradises! Within the Andromeda Botanic Gardens, Farley Hill National Park, Flower Forest, Hunte's Gardens and Welchman Hall Gully - visitors, and Botanist alike, will be lost for hours admiring these astonishing botanical parklands. Keep an eye out for the Dwarf Poinciana, or Peacock Flower…it’s the national flower of Barbados.

Bajan’s take their food very seriously! If you and your fellow travellers are enticed by the gastronomic aspect of holidaying, we believe you’ve selected the right island. With every aspect of cookery mastered; from pickling to freshly prepared dishes, sweet & savoury, fragrant & spicy and of course, the bountiful choice of seafood. Check out the food stalls in Paynes Bay Church – where vendors exhibit locally made dishes & street food that will scintillate the taste buds. At the end of every working week, locals and tourists both flock to Oistins, for 'Fish Fry Day'. This is a must for those who haven’t undergone the experience! The evening starts with barbecues and then ascends into a joyful party. This caps off a busy few days of work for locals as well as the 'strains' associated with serious holidaying.

Barbados is of course iconic for its Beaches & Rum…so why not bring them together? You will have to go out of your way not to be able to find a beach bar along the west coast of the island, as well as the countless Rum Shops. Yes, you’ve read correctly, Rum Shops! These small and locally run businesses embrace the Bajan spice of life, in liquid form. Very delicious! If you’re searching for something a little more special, take a trip to the east coast and visit Sand Dunes Bar and Restaurant at Windy Hill, for an unforgettable experience.

Barbados is a distinct and striking part of the Caribbean. It’s a great fit for all types of travellers, as the island really does have it all. For a little more information about this delightful island, check out our guide to a remarkable stay!

With so many great beaches scattered along the West Coast, you are truly spoilt for choice. Have Sandy Lane Beach on top of your doorstep however, means you don’t need to take into consideration having to pack a large bag of sun creams, water and snacks…the villa is a stone throws away.

Head inland and enjoy a Safari Day Trip. There are plenty of services that run throughout the island and the kids will love the off-road journeying in a 4x4. A good driver/tracker should be able to expose some of the more beautiful wildlife and scenery of the island.

After searching the area for a place to stay with 5 couples celebrating our 50th birthdays, we found La Paloma. The owner was kind enough to reach out to me as I was searching months in advance asking questions about the villa and Barbados. We were thrilled with our choice! Amazing views of the ocean, beautiful and spacious areas within the house and beach/ocean access right outside home. Located within walking distance to Jordan’s supermarket and Il Tempio restaurant. Along with the amazing home and views, comes an incredible staff. Rommel cooks amazing meals, assists with shopping and meal planning and works around what you and your group like. Candy has many talents including cooking and ensuring we wanted for nothing- she helped with cleaning, organizing house and cooked some delicious dishes!! Debra takes amazing care of the garden, plants and pool- really enjoyed her singing and smiling face! Ashley helped with not only maintaining the house with cleaning and keeping house in order, but helped us find the bus stops to make our way around the island. Ask staff about areas to visit in area, have Rommel and Candy make local dishes such as flying fish, chicken with Bajan seasoning and the best gravy you’ve ever had! They like to use local fruits and veggies as well as spices and seasoning that are outstanding. All bedrooms are air conditioned and very comfortable for sleeping. Most of our time at the villa was spent on the beach, on the veranda or on beach/in ocean. So relaxing! You truly want for nothing! Thank you to the staff, owners and management company for an amazing experience! You won’t want to leave!!

With a party of 10, 5 couples celebrating 50th birthdays we were looking for something special and we found it with La Paloma! This villa was prefect for our group. Sometimes pictures on listings are not always accurate but the images on this listing are completely accurate! The outside veranda was perfection and where we all spent a huge chunk of time. There is so much room that even with 10 people out there it was never crowded. All of the bedrooms are air conditioned and the rest of the villa has celling fans everywhere. I cannot say enough great things about the staff! Rommel and Candy prepared some incredible meals and Rommel even did a lot of our grocery shopping. You must try some of the local dishes including flying fish and the chicken in Bajan seasoning along with the most incredible gravy! There is a a grocery store, Jordan's within walking distance and they will even have someone roll your groceries in a cart to your villa which was so great! Having the villa right on the beach and the ocean within a few steps was a huge plus and there are plenty of beach chairs and loungers on the property and you can move them from the pool area to the beach. Fresh beach towels are even put out for you each day. I would highly recommend this villa and would go back in a heartbeat!
