Whistling Sands Cottage enjoys a fabulous location at the far end of the wonderfully scenic Llyn Peninsula. Rugged cliffs, secret sandy coves, and collages of blue where the big skies meet the sea all offer a world of nature. The Llyn Peninsula is known as ‘Snowdon’s arm’, a wildly beautiful peninsula with a rich culture and heritage, traditional farmsteads, little ports, stunning beaches, and dramatic sea cliffs. Little wonder that this magnificent coast is a protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The National Trust’s Whistling Sands, otherwise known as Porthoer Beach, is less than one and half miles from the cottage and the glorious Wales Coast Path is within a mile. The picturesque seaside village of Aberdaron is only three and a half miles away, while Morfa Nefyn is ten and the wonderful Abersoch is eleven miles away. The lovely Aberdaron enjoys charming pubs, restaurants, and shops. Within very easy reach is the sacred Bardsey Island.
Whistling Sands Cottage offers the perfect luxury getaway for four guests and one furry friend. Sprinkled with original features and plenty of windows to let in the sparkling Welsh light, you will be mesmerised by the main living room. With a high vaulted ceiling, elegant lofty beams, and the odd splash of stone to remind you of the barn’s history, you will relax with stylish, modern furnishings and natural colour palettes. A modern wood burning stove sits in the corner of the room offering a crackling atmosphere while the two comfy sofas offer a warm welcome. You can glide across the natural wood floor with its underfloor heating to the stylish kitchen which comes with all mod cons, a beautiful ceiling and a charming country dining table and chairs. You will notice vivid colour splashes and floral hints, all adding to the inviting ambience.
The cottage boasts two boutique hotel style bedrooms with gorgeous fabrics and the crispest of cottons on the beds. The master offers a lavish king-size bed, gorgeous views and a sleek, ultra-modern bathroom in stone, ceramic, and chrome where you can relax and sooth your soul. A wall-mounted television makes for long lazy lie-ins in this luxurious nest. The second bedroom offers gorgeous twin beds with an eye-catching feature headboard. Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesFamily holidays are just brilliant at the gorgeous Whistling Sands Barn. The barn is incredibly comfortable, very spacious and there is plenty of room for family games.
Close by you will find incredible beaches and many walking and cycling paths. The peninsula is stunningly beautiful and the perfect place for those loving the outdoors. One of the best beaches on the whole peninsula is the Whistling Sands Beach which is very close to the barn. Children love listening for the sand whistling and making it squeak as they walk on it. The beach is southwest facing and popular with surfers.
The peninsula’s capital town Pwllheli offers much entertainment. It boasts a Blue Flag beach and a fabulous watersports centre with a very modern marina. The National White Water Centre offers thrilling white water rafting and canoeing on the River Tryweryn. You need to be a confident swimmer. All children must be 10 years old or over on the Rafting Safari. For full and taster rafting sessions and canyoning children should be 12 years old. There are other courses for over 14’s and over 16’s. Canyoning is fantastic fun with scambling, sliding and swimming through the gorge. There is also a delightful woodland trail and cafe for the younger ones or those not brave enough! The Glasfryn Parc Activity Centre in Pwllheli has more than 11 outdoor and indoor activities including go-karting, archery, crazy golf, watersports, segway, clay pigeon shooting, cable wakeboarding and indoor soft play. There is something for everyone at this terrific centre. You can take some amazing boat trips from Pwllheli’s marina to enjoy the seals, seabirds and dolphins.
A wonderful family excursion is a visit to the royal fortress palace, Caernarfon Castle. It is recognised as one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages. On the banks of the River Seiont, the castle took 47 years to build. You can also visit Penarth Fawr which is an extremely well-preserved house which gives a rare glimpse into how the Welsh gentry lived during the 15th century.
You can enjoy outstanding scenery, comfortable carriages, and historic steam engines with the Welsh Highland Steam Railway. In the heart of Snowdonia, glorious coastlines, ancient oak woodlands, mountains, rivers and castles all beckon as you jump on the train, stepping back in time. There is a buffet service on the train while you enjoy the views, including the locally brewed award-winning beers for the adults.

A slice of heaven!
Despite having the worst weather imaginable, we were happy to be unable to leave the cottage for 3 days solid. We kept warm with the underfloor heating and lit the wood burner, whilst relaxing in the sumptuous facilities. When persuaded to leave the house (hates the rain and wind), our dog loved the walks to the beaches, cafe and running around in the contained grass paddock. Amazing.

Home away from home
The property has been renovated to a very high standard and we felt at home from the instinct we walked through the door. The underfloor heating throughout along with the log fire was bliss
