Houndsmoor House holds a wonderful position in the pretty Somerset village of Milverton, while guests will enjoy a totally tranquil escape, the towns of Wellington and Somerset are both less than a twenty-minute drive away.
The impressive family home boasts gorgeous interiors which have been expertly put together by fashion designer owner Helena. With luxurious textiles, European antiques, and terracotta walls, it feels more like an elegant Tuscan villa than a country home. Houndsmoor House can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests across its four well-appointed bedrooms. On the ground floor is the main living accommodation, comprising of a drawing room with open fire, dining room with regency table and a fully-equipped kitchen. The home is ideal for socialising and therefore makes the ideal setting for a special occasion or family get-together, after action-packed days spent exploring the wonderful surrounding area, the whole family will enjoy settling down with a good film in the TV room. Upstairs, there are four beautifully appointed double bedrooms.
The outside space is as equally impressive, the large garden offers plenty of space for games and lazy picnics by the stream. For those wanting to indulge in some healthy competition, there is even a private tennis court! After days spent exploring beautiful Somerset, the whole family will enjoy evenings spent dining al fresco in the walled garden.

The home is located in a wonderful position for those wanting to explore the beautiful county of Somerset with plenty for the whole family to see, do and explore in the surrounding area. Hestercombe House & Gardens are 20-minutes away, while the National Trust owned Wellington Monument, Fyne Court and Coleridge Cottage are all less than 35-minutes away. For those wanting to explore the great outdoors, the Quantock Hills are just 20-minutes away, designated an area of outstanding national beauty, visitors are bound to enjoy the stunning scenery. Exmoor National Park, a magnificent landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland is less than 25-minutes away. For shopaholics, Clarks Village is under 60-minutes away and offers a variety of designer and high street brands at outlet prices. Popular Glastonbury, steeped in myth and history, is just a 60-minute car journey from the house while fashionable Bruton, dubbed the Notting Hill of the west, is just over an hour away and is home to a handful of excellent restaurants.

Houndsmoor House is perfect location for weddings. The owner have enjoyed many wonderful parties, events and special celebration at the majestic property and beautiful garden over last 25. The house is a fabulous venue that offers endless possibilities. The house offers a lovely exclusive private location with a lovely atmosphere.
Wedding Reception
There are a variety of lovely location to host a wedding reception at Houndsmoor House.
- The walled garden with central fountain and folly with lights and electricity and a dance floor and possible Indian tents for day and night.
- The paddock can and has accommodated a large marquee for up to 300. There is onsite electricity and catering facilities and an adjacent tennis court, as well as independent entrance from a country lane. There is parking in the village or in our local field. Alternatively, a sprinter bus can bring guests. In the past we used our 1940’s Rolls Royce to bring guests up the drive from the lane.
- The cellar has accommodated up to 60 guests for sit down dinners and dancing afterwards. It is a beautiful, cobbled cellar. We have used tresses tables and greenery to decorate.
- A Marquee can be put in the walled garden or the paddock near to the house with a capacity of 200 – 300 guests
- Houndsmoor House, as a Regency Manor House can accommodate 30 guests for drinks and dinner in the drawing room and dining room.
Wedding Ceremony
The owners do not have a licence, so no legal civil ceremonies can take place.
Dancing can take place if a suitable marquee is hired – cleared after dining – where there is plenty of room for all the guests. The owners recommend that the music continues indoors after 10.00 pm but there are no music restrictions inside the property. Please note the walled garden and paddock are half a mile from the village and therefore loud music must not be a nuisance after 11pm latest midnight.
Where to Stay
The house can house up to 11 guests and there is plenty of nearby accommodation for the remaining guests. There is a local pub in walking distance sleeping 10 and a local pub sleeping 20. There are also many local places and hotels available if booked in advance and a mini bus can be arranged for guests.
The owner can supply details of local transport firms.
Wedding Planning
The owner advises clients to bring their own wedding or event planner.
The owner can suggest suppliers for catering, marquees, flowers or a vintage Rolls Royce and driver.
Catering
The owners can recommend local caterers or the clients may arrange their own. There is no corkage charge.
Much of the food used in the in-house catering is locally sourced organic produce.

This venue has a relaxed attitude towards the event day – the owners are happy for clients to come and go as they like.
