Cottage Modern Walk to Village Parking Space Romantic

Nestled in a tranquil remote location near the village of Edinbane in the north of Skye, Edinbane Byre is the perfect place for a spot of switch off and a romantic escape. With just one bedroom it is a fabulous hideaway where you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of Skye, wonderful villages and towns and just being together. If you do have a little one, there is plenty of space for a travel cot.

The Isle of Skye is a truly magical place, the largest of the Inner Hedbrides and home to some of Scotland’s most iconic and dramatic landscapes. Skye is enchanting, captivating and absolutely fascinating. In the north of Skye, Edinbane is a wonderful place, 13km from the centre of Dunvegan, a little further from the bustling Portree and only one hundred metres from Loch Greshornish. If it is views, peace and romance you are looking for, this is the perfect spot. Edinbane straddles the River Abhainn Choishleadar. The Edinbane Pottery is a family run artisan pottery in the middle of the village where you can buy some gorgeous souvenirs. There are two hotels with bars, the Edinbane Inn and Edinbane Lodge. Edinbane is ideally located to explore Skye’s three northerly peninsulas, Trotternish, Waternish and Durinish, which between them offer some of the finest dining in Skye. With the island only being fifty miles long and twenty-five miles wide, you will get the opportunity to see much of the island though. The majestic Cuillin mountain range boasts twelve munros and a fantastic range of scenic walks.

Edinbane Byre is absolutely stunning. It is modern, beautiful and was totally renovated in 2022. It is surrounded by a terrace and small garden where you can enjoy the sunshine and sensational views towards the loch. The exterior of Edinbane Byre is very attractive, an elegant mix of stone, wooden cladding and dazzling white render. Within lies a very stylish open plan living space, a delightful bedroom, and a smart, immaculate bathroom.
The living space sweeps around the cottage, enjoying huge picture windows that ensure that the sparkling Skye light floods these dreamy spaces. The living area blends rich leather sofas and armchairs with a trendy anthracite grey dream of a kitchen and an ultra-cool dining table. Comfy leather armchairs sit by the wood burning stove while others sit next to the giant window that offers views of the loch. A matching sofa sits in the perfect spot to watch the television that sits on a characterful stone clad shelf and wall. The interior design is fabulous and very classy. An elegant, calm ambience hangs in the air. The kitchen is state-of-the-art with excellent, trendy black appliances.

Your bedroom is a heavenly nest with astonishing countryside views that will entice your gaze, modern furniture, and hotel quality linens. You will feel the tranquillity fold around you as you relax in absolute peace and quiet. With clean lines, minimalist decor and a cool vibe, you are encouraged to embrace the calm. Your shower room also comes with clean lines and stylish decor.

Edinbane Byre is a private paradise for your next rural getaway. It is beautifully chic, effortlessly stylish and oozes luxury.

Edinbane Byre enjoys a wonderfully secluded location close to the village of Edinbane in north Skye. Edinbane sits between Dunvegan and Portree.

Dunvegan is great with a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants. It is famous for its eight-hundred-year-old mythical castle and gardens. You can wander around its impressive gardens, grab a bite to eat in the cafe and catch a boat to see the Loch Dunvegan seal colony. The castle has been home to the Clan MacLeod the whole time. Though it may look like one castle, it is actually six buildings that were built in ten stages. The Keep was built in the mid-14th century and is the oldest part still standing. Dunvegan rests in the sea loch between the Waternish and Durinish peninsulas. There are wonderful walks, fishing and the Giant MacAskill Museum. North of Dunvegan, the Claigan coral beaches are perfect for picnics and the Dunvegan bakery is a perfect stop for provisions. The town is rich in eateries from quirky cafes to smart restaurants. Not far from Dunvegan is one of Skye’s most famous Michelin-starred restaurants, The Three Chimneys.

The Isle of Skye offers incredible walks and iconic landscapes. The Waternish peninsula is amazing. You can also explore the fabled ‘Garden of Skye’ on the Sleat peninsula, enjoy action-packed fun on Raasay and taste the finest malt whiskies. Skye’s most majestic geological features include the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing and the Cuillin. The island’s varied habitats mean that you could easily see otters, dolphins, golden eagles, white-tailed sea eagles and puffins. The capital of the island is Portree. Other villages in the north worth a stop are Uig and Staffin. Talisker Bay is lovely with a unique panorama. Basalt cliffs rise dramatically on either side of the bay.

Portree is surrounded by hills, Ben Tianavaig to the south, Suidh Fhinn or Fingal’s Seat to the west and the smaller Ben Chrachaig to the north. Further north is the Old Man of Storr. Portree is only about two hundred years old, originally a fishing village created by the then Lord MacDonald. It is brimming with cafes, restaurants, banks, churches, gift shops, a cinema, a swimming pool and a tourist information centre. The town hosts numerous annual events such as the Portree Show, the Isle of Skye half marathon and the island’s largest event, the Skye Highland Games. It is very pretty with rows of colourful cottages lining up.

Best Suited For: All Ages

Though Edinbane Byre only offers one bedroom, you are welcome to bring a little one to sleep in a travel cot. This property is truly idyllic with stunning views and stylish spaces.

Skye is absolutely incredible with a rich history, prehistoric sites, brooding castles and dramatic scenery. If you do take a little one, you may want to visit Staffin’s Dinosaur Museum or go hunting for dinosaur prints around the island.

The mystical Faerie Glen is a delightful miniature landscape of grassy, cone shaped hills with walking paths. You turn right off the main road from Portree, just before Uig and the strangely shaped, Tolkienesque hillocks are impossible to miss as the road winds its way through the centre of Faerie Glen. It is a perfect place to picnic, perhaps by the stone circle and brook.

The island is blessed with beautiful, peaceful beaches including Coral Beach, Redpoint Beach, Gairloch Beach, Firemore Beach and Applecross Beach. Boat trips are popular including Calums Plockton Seal Trips who take you on one hour safaris to spot seals, dolphins and porpoises. You will also see much wildlife on a Misty Isle Boat Trip. If you are lucky, you might spot basking sharks, Minky whales and the rare sunfish. In the sky, you might spot golden eagles, oyster catchers and buzzards.

Armadale Castle and Grounds offer twenty thousand acres of stunning grounds with the castle ruins being surrounded by a forty acre woodland garden. You will discover The Museum of the Isles with six galleries and a children’s trail. This takes you through one thousand five hundred years of history. There are many nature trails taking you beyond the elegant gardens into beautiful woodlands. There is a guided treasure hunt for children.
