Sparrow House holds a wonderful location, set within an exclusive, gated development, just south of the popular town of Cirencester in Gloucestershire. The contemporary, lakefront home makes a luxurious holiday home for those who wish to explore this beautiful region of the country. The fantastic facilities on offer, which include an on-site spa with swimming pool, tennis court, children’s playground and restaurant, make it an excellent choice for families.

The modern property features a quirky, upside-down layout which allows guests to enjoy the gorgeous surroundings and views from the open-plan living areas.

Sparrow House can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests across the four well-appointed bedrooms. On the ground floor  are the first three of the bedrooms, a double room with en-suite shower room, a twin room as well as a bunk bed room, perfect for younger guests! These bedrooms share the use of a family bathroom also on this level. Upstairs, on the first floor is the bright open-plan living and dining area with its large windows and access to the balcony overlooking the lake. Also, on this floor is the modern fitted kitchen which boasts all the amenities a budding chef could possibly need as well as a TV room, perfect for keeping the children occupied on rainy days! On the second floor is the king-size master suite, guests are bound to argue over this room with its luxurious en-suite bathroom and lake views.

Outside, the balcony comes with dining facilities and barbecue, making it the perfect place to enjoy a sundowner or to dine al fresco while admiring the lake views at sunset.

On the region’s southern fringes, Cirencester is one of the major centres of the Cotswolds, and offers much more than just sightseeing. It’s certainly a town with a history – at one time the second-largest in Britain – but it hasn’t become a tourist hub in the manner of many of England’s heritage cities, meaning it’s even more of a joy for those who do come exploring.

You can get an insight into the history of Cirencester at its Corinium Museum, this being the Roman name for the town. Mosaics and artefacts bring the story vividly to life, and children can get involved too with special activities. Those who love art, nature or both will find something to please them at Cirencester’s Elemental Sculpture Park, where more than 150 pieces are dotted around the woodlands.

You wouldn’t expect to find many beaches in Gloucestershire, but there is one at the Cotswold Country Park at Shorncote to the south of Cirencester, a place made for family fun with a water park and children’s playground. For a bit of culture, the town’s Sundial Theatre offers a varied programme of events, and those with an eye for a bargain can explore the antiques and collectibles on offer at the Corn Hall indoor market on Fridays.

The town’s excellent dining scene certainly shouldn’t be overlooked – you will have no trouble tracking down anything from an artisan coffee to a Michelin Star three-course meal. Among the highest-rated places in town are Tierra & Mar, a great spot for tapas, and The Falcon at Poulton, where the food is restaurant quality and the setting is a delightful country pub.

Sparrow House is very much conceived as a space for the whole family; its roomy and spacious lay out make for a wonderful family experience - from the top floor open plan living area, to the ample al fresco dining spaces, the family here will holiday together in a natural, sociable and designer-chic setting.

For the little ones, a high chair and baby cot are provided. For the teens and older children there is a television with DVD, when “downtime” is required, and Wi-Fi throughout.  There are endless options for outdoor activities on the development: whether this be exploring the many and varied hiking trails across the estate, swimming, cycling, kayaking or tennis. This makes it the ultimate choice for families looking for adventure, fun and some healthy competition.

Other Ts and Cs Use of on-site spa facilities included in rental price, treatments are priced separately. Guests must take the spa pass (usually on a lanyard) with them when they wish to use the facility as this gains them access. The spa, has an indoor and outdoor pool which are both heated to 30 degrees. There is also a sauna and steam located on the indoor poolside and an eco-pool located at the end of the building. They are welcome to either bring their own towels or hire them at the spa for £2 per towel. The gym is also located at the spa, which requires the spa pass to gain access too aswell. Sports equipment hire is charged locally and is subject to availability, so please request early to guarantee use!

We fell in love with Estate and were fortunate to be able to design the property to our tastes and requirements

Do you have a favourite room in the property?
We love the view over the lake from the sitting room and mezzanine. It changes through the seasons and we never tire of it.

Really do? Visit Cirencester, a beautiful, vibrant town.
Really eat? We love the Wild Duck at Ewen and the Village Pub in Barnsley
Really see? The whole of the Estate – walking around the lakes and along the footpaths reveals the true magic of this wonderful place

What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area? The area behind the property is home to so much wildlife. You will see swans and other birds on the lake; and rabbits nibbling the grass at the back. And if you are very lucky – you need to get up early in the morning at first light – you might see a little muntjac deer. We’ve even seen stoats racing around!

    Sparrow House is one of the newest properties on Lower Mill Estate and is now available for rental. It is a fine example of one of the most popular house types with homeowners and rental guests alike. Located in an enviable position facing west over Swillbrook Lake and Nature Reserve, Sparrow House has captivating views across the water to the treeline on the horizon, yet is only a few minutes’ walk from the tennis court, spa and restaurant. It offers the chance to experience 'reverse' living in a very contemporary style with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the ground floor. There is an open plan kitchen, a living/dining area overlooking the lake, and separate TV “snug” room on the first floor. The master suite, with large bathroom and gallery with stunning views, is on the second floor. The house is finished to an exacting standard to include oak flooring, feature wood burner, fully glazed elevations to the first floor with balconies to the front and rear. This is a house for those wanting a peaceful place to enjoy the perfect Cotswolds views of water and wildlife.
