Beaconview Beach House is a newly built, 5 star luxury, detached holiday home set in a spectacular hillside location in Downderry. The property has wonderful panoramic sea views all the way to Looe Island and beyond that can be enjoyed from the balconies and elevated decking.
Looe View is located in Downderry, a beautiful, popular Cornish seaside village which enjoys breathtaking views of the idyllic coastline and countryside. It also has good, local day-to-day facilities with a general store, post office, traditional inn with lovely sea views and the recent opening of Blueplate by Nick Barclay.
For guests that enjoy walking, the coastal paths provide many opportunities with nearby Seaton, Looe, Talland Bay and the 13th century fishing village of Polperro.
Inside Beaconview is a modern, neutrally decorated, contemporary home. It has a fully fitted kitchen with fantastic sea and coastal views and the entire property is furnished luxuriously for your comfort. There are four, first floor bedrooms which together sleep ten guests (8 adults, 2 children).
The friendly owners provide a welcome hamper which is sufficient for enjoying a couple of glasses of wine on the evening of arrival, and the ingredients for having a cooked breakfast the following morning, meaning that you don't necessarily have to rush out to stock the fridge immediately on arrival!

What you should know…
- The indoor dining room is only set up to seat 8. Bigger parties can request additional seating.
- For people travelling in a few separate cars, many cars would block off the back entrance. Guests need to be organised with arrival and departure times so as not to block others in.

Philip & Michaela
How long have you owned the property?
8 years.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
It has to be its location and the huge amount of glass used to maximise the views of the sea and valley.
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
You have to visit the Monkey Sanctuary, Blue Plate Restaurant, Kingsand and Cawsand, Looe and Eden project.
Really eat?
The local seafood, highly recommend Blue Plate in Downderry.
Really see?
The sea and coastline - charter a boat in Looe, take a trip to Looe Island, walk the southwest coast path, visit the Natural Maritime museum in Plymouth
Lastly, what insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
This is the forgotten corner of Cornwall, so whilst the rest of Cornwall is getting overcrowded especially in Summer, Downderry and Seaton beaches are rarely so, even in the height of the hot summer we have just had.

Wonderful stay and great views
We stayed for 1 week as a group of friends with children. The 5 adults and 3 children fitted perfectly into the house.
The views out to the bay are lovely, they have built 2 houses in front as you can see in the photos, but they don't really get in the way. The weather was amazing and we made good use of the BBQ on the front grass, which also rewarded us with some lovely sunset views. You'll find the BBQ in the garage which has an electric door so you just need to locate the keyfob in the house.
Take the steps up behind the house to find the decked area high up with tables and chairs. It was a bit too breezy when we were there but in Summer that would be the perfect spot to eat dinner.
The facilities in the local area are somewhat basic but we got a shopping delivery from Sainsbury's so that wasn't too much of an issue.
The house is up on a hill, so the walk back from the pub can be a little bit of a push if you're not use to it. The driveway is also very steep. We got 3 large cars parked on there but you do have to watch it if you've got a lower car. My mates E350 was quite close to catching the front sill so he had to be careful. Just make sure you park it in gear!
The Inn On The Shore is a bit of a basic pub and we found them to be missing a number of items off the menu, but we got fed. The Blue Plate restaurant is delicious and I highly recommend it. About 1.6 miles from the house is the Smugglers Inn pub, we just had drinks which were good, but they also had street food. Nice beaches down there too, the ones closer to the house are mostly pebbles.
Back to the house, we found it had everything we needed for our stay and the kids loved the games selection. The fridge is the standard under the counter type and we found it to be small. We're all used to big upright fridges these days. There was another large fridge in the garage but not turned on, I'm not sure if it worked, but if so I'd recommend asking for it to be turned on for you so you've got some additional cold space.
In summary, I would recommend this to a family and friends group, we had a great stay. -
Very comfortable home from home with amazing sea views
We have just returned from a wonderful week at the house. It was perfect for our extended family of 4 generations. It has everything needed for a family holiday and was very well presented with amazing sea views. We loved it and didn't want to leave
