It’s March – the novelty of hat and scarf season is over and we’re itching to see the first flowers of Spring; it’s no wonder we’re craving sunnier climes by this time of year. So, where’s hot in March? Say goodbye to winter and hello to warmth in one of these 6 sunbaked destinations.
Weather: Max: 28° Min 23° (avg.)
What to do: Winter over here is prime season over in the Caribbean – so make sure you book well in advance and expect some crowds. Nevertheless, March is the ideal time to visit one of the tropical islands; whether you’re looking to relax on one of the sugar-white beaches… rum cocktail in hand, dance to the reggae beats of a live jam session, go for a hike in the mountainous jungle or dive into the crystal-clear water, you couldn’t pick a more perfect place to escape the cold weather!
Where to stay: Choose your island wisely, depending on your ‘scene’ – for example, March is Spring Break season and the young and fun crowds tend to descend on Cancun, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. If you’re going on holiday to let off some steam, then these could be the islands for you, but if you just want to kick back and live the chilled-out island lifestyle then head to jungle-clad St Lucia or beach-fringed Barbados.

What to do: The warmer weather starts to kick in at this time of year in Bali – rainy season is coming to an end. If you’re not too phased by a few rainy spells (that clear to bright sunny skies) then definitely consider this tropical paradise in March. This is the best time to bag some decent discounts, have a quieter break with less tourists in the popular sightseeing spots like Ubud’s Tegalalang rice terraces or the many spiritual temples, and still enjoy the sunshine.
Where to stay: Our collection of amazing villas in Bali offer a mix of traditional styles, epic outdoor living spaces and modern amenities across Canggu, Ubud, Seminyak and Uluwatu.

What to do: March isn’t necessarily the best time of year to visit the Northern or Central areas of Thailand (the hot and humid season) however, it’s pretty perfect for a sojourn to the southern islands. The sugar-white beaches and turquoise waters are ideal for basking in – and cooling off from – the hot and dry weather. Want to explore the colourful coral-filled reefs? March is considered the best time of year for scuba diving and snorkelling.
Where to stay: Our ever-growing collection of villas in Thailand now cover Phuket, Ko Kut, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and Koh Yao Islands – each and every one of these is an absolute gem… from castaway beaches and diving nirvana to cultural adventures.

All three islands are well-known for their stunning volcanic scenery – for instance, Lanzarote has been a UNESCO geopark since 2015 – so they’re perfect for walks or hikes. You can also find plenty of family-friendly white-sand beaches in Tenerife or other active adventures in Gran Canaria.
