Oliver’s Travels Is The Telegraph’s Top Luxury Villa Pick For Brittany
July 16th, 2015
The Telegraph recently listed their Top 10 Favourite Villas in France, and we’re delighted to report that we didn’t just get one mention – we got three. Speaking of our chateaux in Brittany, travel writer Giles Milton observed:
“Countless rental homes and cottages are available along the Breton coast. For something truly exceptional, though, how about renting a castle? The easy-to-use Oliver’s Travels website lists a dozen genuine châteaux in Brittany, capable of accommodating from 10 to 35 guests; all are ideal for hosting large-scale get-togethers. Among the pick of the crop are the Château de Moulin, commanding views of both St-Malo and Dinard from a seafront hill-top; the Manor de Chalandes, set in magnificent gardens near the Loire which comes with its own spa; and the imposing Château de Choisel near Rennes, which has a private fishing lake.”

Oliver Gets The Independent’s Blessing For Last Minute September Sun!
September 1st, 2015
At the start of September 2015, The Independent pointed out that while most kids will be heading back to school (and therefore not really best placed to be flying off somewhere to enjoy a holiday) parents with younger children and pre-schoolers are in the ideal position to take advantage of the late summer sun when prices plummet. They listed their top suggestions for places where can go and enjoy a September break with up to 50% off the price of renting a luxury holiday home – and we came up trumps with the Dordogne’s beautiful Villa Shambhala.
They said of the property:
“Also ideal for young families, Shambhala is a four-bedroom cottage in France with steps down to the Dordogne river and plenty of baby-friendly fittings (cots, stair gates and more).”

The Daily Mail Favourites Domaine de Favaze!
September 28th, 2015
We recently had John Hutchinson, one of the Mail Online’s intrepid travel writers, coming for a stay in Domaine de Favaze, one of our favourite (and certainly one of the the most colourful) properties in Languedoc. With his own private chef and a whole week to enjoy the place, it too John no time at all to settle in. As he explains in his piece:
“What I loved about the property was that there was always something unexpected just around the corner. A hidden stairwell of one room would lead to another entire floor decked out in French boutique excellence. And what you might believe to be a cupboard turned out to be a bathroom or the entrance to another area of the house.”
You can read the full run-down of John’s experiences at the Mail Online.
An Improper Bostonian at the 14th Century Castle!
October 2nd, 2015
The beautiful C14th Private Castle in Scotland had a visitor from the venerable city of Boston recently – Jonathan Soroff from Improper Bostonian magazine. While enjoying everything Scotland has to offer (including experiencing the unforgettable Edinburgh Fringe Festival), he had this to say about his wonderfully grandiose digs:
“Through Oliver’s Travels – a UK based company that leases spectacular villas, castles and luxury homes throughout Europe, we rented a jaw-dropping 14th Century heap in the borders (It doubles for Balmoral in the film Mrs Brown.) Our hosts were the incomparably hospitable Laird and Lady Alick and Aline Hay, and I quickly got comfortable (or drunk) enough to tell them about my title, which elicited a wan smile. We dined with them in the evening and during the day enjoyed country pursuits like shooting clay pigeons, hiking in the forest and lounging around the drawing room drinking excessive amounts of scotch.”

October 28th, 2015
Anthea Gerrie at the Jewish Chronicle recently put together her top picks for beautiful destination wedding venues, and the spectacular Chateau De Challange made the list! Among other properties in Switzerland and the Caribbean, the jaw-droppingly beautiful chateau in the Loire Valley was singled out as one of the most impressive places you can get married. You can find a picture of the article below (sadly it isn’t online!) and see the true splendour of Chateau De Challange (now known as Chateau Des Joyaux) yourself by clicking the link.

National Geographic knows a thing or two about travel, as their documentary channel and magazine series shows! Oliver’s Travels also prides itself on its range of weird and wonderful places that are ideal for those who revel in the quirky and the characterful — there’s a windmill on the coast of Mykonos, a Croatian island lighthouse and an Napoleonic sea fortress in the Solent.
No party is too big or small, whether it’s a cosy poolside holiday with friends in a Mediterranean villa, a large family break at a glorious French chateau, a birthday blowout at a spectacular party house or an idyllic venue for the ultimate destination wedding.”

Looking for a Luxury Stay this Christmas? Ask Tatler!
December 1st, 2015
Everyone’s planning a bit of a party for Christmas, but how can you can make sure your big bash is the snazziest of the snazziest? Well, to start off you could take the advice of Tatler, the upmarket lifestyle magazine of choice, who chose two of our luxury holiday rentals in their list of the best party houses to rent this Christmas.
To start off they took a look at beautiful Blackwood Mansion in Scotland, which sleeps 16 guests in total luxury and comes with a cinema room, optional butler service and five acres of beautiful gardens. They had this to say about this magnificent property:
“If you’re looking for a wee bit of Scottish Victorian opulence, let us steer you in the direction of Blackwood Mansion, just outside St Andrews. Aside from five acres and a walled garden for playing a mammoth game of hide-and-seek, there’s a wine cellar, library, gym, grand dining room and TARTAN ballroom. Yes, you heard us right. Bring your kilt and be prepared to do some serious reeling.”
Next up on their list was our Napoleonic Fortress – truly one of the most impressive properties on our portfolio, as it’s sat in the middle of the Solent and comes with a gym, champagne room and even an outdoor sauna!
“Crashing waves, sunset G&Ts and a hot tub on the top deck – if you’re going to throw a whopper of a party, it might as well be slap-bang in the middle of the Solent, in an actual fortress. There’s also a bar, library, poker room and steam room. Don’t worry, you don’t have to swim to get there – guests get ferried out by boat from Portsmouth Harbour. Phew.”
