Time flies when you’re having fun and not only did we have a blast, but we’ve also had some very exciting mentions and features during January and March. From sunny appraisals by The Times to an eclectic mix of horse friendly mentions – have a scroll through all the press-based coverage that Oliver’s Travels received in the first quarter of 2016.
The Telegraph,’ Villa special’
The Telegraph published a 10 page special on villas on the 23rd of January, with Oliver’s Travels getting no less than four mentions. We featured twice in their list of the top 10 villas for group holidays, with Manor de Chalandes in Brittany and Villa da Luz in the Algarve both getting a mention, and we turned up twice in their tips section on living luxuriously (because luxury is what we do!) You can read the full list of the top 10 villas for group holidays over at The Telegraph’s travel section.
The Times, ‘Holidays in the Med filling up as travellers play it safe’
We also popped up very briefly in The Times, with our co-founder Ravi quoted in an article on the importance of booking early this year due to shifting customer demands when it comes to holiday destinations.
The Sunday Times
It’s always nice to be relaxing with the weekend papers, and then spot yourself! Our lovely villa, Rapunzel’s Folie appeared in The Sunday Times last week. This picture-perfect property is a lovely base to explore the Dordogne.
The Times, “The Best Breaks in France”
The Times published a list of their 50 best breaks in France, and we were chuffed to bits (once our collective hangovers had worn off) that one of our beautiful villas in Brittany had been picked. Maison Meneac is a beautiful little villa that sits not too far from the Gulf of Morbihan. Sleeping up to a total of eight guests, it’s a quirky and comfortable little place that offers a great base if you want to explore the beauty of north-western France. Times travel writer Carolyn Boyd had this to say about this marvellous little getaway:
Enjoy playing the lord or lady of the manor with at Maison Meneac, a beautifully decorated mansion close to the north Breton coast which is new to Oliver’s Travels this year. Its owner has taken two years to restore the mansion with decor that reflects its 19th Century origins, with William Morris wallpaper, objets d’art and portraits.

France Magazine Know Their Onions When It Comes to Luxury Chateaux
We’re being picked left, right and centre as the top place to rent the world’s most luxurious villas, chateaux and holiday homes from. We were delighted when we found out France Magazine featured one of our Dordogne properties in an article on the joys of chateaux living. Their pick was the wonderful Chateaux Clauzure, and they had this to say about it:
With two salons, a dining room, TV room and kitchen, there is plenty of space for everyone. Surrounding the chateau, which was built in 1820, there are four hectares of parkland with a number of mature trees, large lawns and an enclosed swimming pool; the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the surrounding villages, markets and chateaux of Dordogne and Charente.
Wear & Where, ‘Oliver’s Travels Portfolio’
Lifestyle website Wear & Where took a look at three sun-soaked villas on our portfolio, and they had a lot to say about our huge range…
“With 2000 properties on their books and clients spending an average of £39 per person, per night, the villas aren’t only gorgeous (we’re talking converted windmills, trulli and glass houses), but also not break-the-bank expensive and great for big family gatherings or groups of friends travelling together. Here are 3 that I’m currently dreaming of…”
The writer went on to detail Villa Trullo, Cortijo Maria Camila and Water Lily House in Provence. You can take a look at all of the properties by clicking on the links or you can read the full article over at Wear & Where.
Journeys Magazine, ‘Winter Warmers’
The Telegraph, ‘Exclusive offer’
And if that little mention hasn’t tempted you to check out some of our amazing villas and holiday homes, maybe our next one will? While Journeys Magazine was happy to look at one of our properties, The Telegraph instead chose to mention one of our great offers:
You can check out the fantastic villas at the Vidamar Algarve Resort on our site – there’s plenty of offers there, and you can even pair them up with our Early Bird offer if you book before January 31st 2016!
Country & Town Magazine
Finally, our last mention comes from Country & Town House Magazine, who gave us a bit of a plug in the pages of their magazine.
Three Oliver’s Travels Villas in The Times: Top 50 Secret Villas in the Med
Three of our gorgeous Mediterranean villas made it into The Times Top 50 list on February 1st and we couldn’t agree more with their choices!
First up was Villa Sol, a stunningly well preserved 1880s chateau, with an enviable view over the Cote d’Azur. Here’s what The Times liked about it:
“…this elegant Belle Epoque property has the kind of detailing often lacking in beachside villas. Living areas and six bedrooms feature high ceilings, vintage furnishings and refined styling…” Merci, beaucoup!
Their next choice was the truly unique Tiggi Beach House on the Greek island of Mykonos. This bohemian twist on luxury comes complete with spectacular views, Balinese beds and outdoor lounge. You just have to check out the photos of this one! Here’s what the Times had to say;
“This villa… is right on the Tigani beach and mixes traditional Cycladic styling with colourful bohemian décor.”
The Times’ final choice is the hyper-modern Villa Soula, in Cyprus. Luxury knows no bounds here, as guests have their own private beach to enjoy, wine cellar and cutting-edge interior design throughout. The Times said;
“It’s not hard to pretend you’re on a boat in this luxe villa with wooden decks throughout.” Bon voyage!

House & Garden, ‘Luxury Villas in Unusual Locations’
The February edition of House & Garden featured the rising popularity of villa holidays, especially in off-the-beaten-track places… we might know a little something about that! Cue our stunning Villa Trullo in Puglia. This renovated villa’s unmistakable feature is its series of conical roofs, which are typical too this sunny region of southern Italy. House & Garden also mentioned the villa’s “beautifully tended estate, where you can pick your own fruit”.
