Back in September 2015, we ran a contest with mumsnet to win a stay at the lovely Ropewalk Cottage in the Cotswolds. The lucky winner, Lucy Robinson went with her partner and young family. We were delighted to hear what a lovely time they had! Check out their holiday account and top tips for enjoying the Cotswolds below.
We were recently fortunate enough to stay in a beautiful 3 storey cottage in a little village called Blockley in the Cotswolds. I went with my partner and two children aged 5 & 8. We found the cottage very roomy and comfortable. It had a lovely lounge/diner with a cozy wood burning stove and a beautiful kitchen over looking the garden. The views from the top floor were fantastic.
The cottage was a great base to explore the lovely surrounding area. We loved visiting Broadway Tower and village. We also had a great time at Bourton-on-the-Water, (also know as the Venice of the Cotswolds) Birdland Park and Gardens and the kids loved the motoring museum.
The highlight though was going for a local walk, it was so beautiful looking back down on the village. The kids would say we got lost but I would say we were exploring! We set off from the cottage and a meandering 2 hours later we arrived back, very muddy and worn out but had a great time. It was lovely to curl up for the evening in front the fire.
I wouldn’t change anything about the cottage, we absolutely loved the homely feel. The only advice I would give to future guests would be to definitely take your wellies and enjoy!
