Taking the kids away on an autumn break can be the ideal way to really explore the countryside, so here at Oliver’s Travels, we’ve picked out three of our favourite locations for seasonal holidays. If one of these luxury holiday cottages catches your eye, just head to our main site to book your very own UK getaway this autumn.
A stay at Argyll Barn is a true taste of luxury! This house boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland for some well-deserved peace. Set just an hour and a half from booming Glasgow, you always have the opportunity to venture out on a day trip for some exploring. Of course, with facilities including a shared indoor swimming pool and a tennis court, it’ll be hard to tear yourself away. A charming river runs through the grounds, perfect for quiet walks. It’s fair to say this property is a true dream.
If your kids are history fans, whisk them away to our Jacobean Manor, where the oak-panelled halls, dramatic oil paintings, and expansive grounds can really bring the past to life. Situated in the rolling border country between England and Wales, it’s only an hour away from the picturesque Snowdonia National Park. Twenty-five minutes in the other direction is the walled city of Chester, founded by the Romans in AD 79. Chester’s Dewa Roman Experience is an interactive museum trip that charmingly and authentically recreates the ancient city – right down to the slightly less than pleasant smells!
The Lake District
This beautiful English region has always been a firm family favourite, and with so many outdoor activities on offer, it isn’t hard to see why. For particularly energetic families, the Treetop Trek at the Lake District Visitor Centre in Brockhole is great for anyone with a head for heights – and the views of the surrounding countryside are unparalleled. Stay at the Lakeside Barn and you’ll enjoy 26 acres of private grounds and panoramic lake views across Ullswater to the Lakeland Fells beyond. What’s more, you’ll have the ½ mile of uninterrupted lake shoreline – a truly fantastic spot to stay!
