Map, Location & Local Information

Chamonix Mont-Blanc is set among some of the most dramatic peaks in the world, including the the highest mountain in the Alps, the stunning Mont Blanc.

Steeped in history, many of the greatest ever skiers have used the town as a base for their expeditions deep into the mountains, and you'll find this reflected in the monuments and even the street names in the town. Chamonix offers a huge choice of slopes and challenges for all abilities, from the longest run in Europe to great tree runs and off piste - not forgetting plenty of blue and greens for beginners and intermediates.

There really is something for everyone. The historic town of Chamonix has long been known as the skiing and alpine sports capital of the world. The lively streets of the town are a mix of cafe's, restaurants, bars and great shopping with undoubtedly some of the best views in the Alps.

The Resort

Chamonix’s reputation often precedes it, especially if you’re a seasoned skier and snowboarder – and it’s often cited as a resort that doesn’t go easy on those who brave a trip down its challenging slopes. Beginners definitely won’t get as much out of Chamonix as those who are comfortable tackling a black run.

That’s not say Chamonix is totally unromantic, just that skiing is a higher priority than anything else here. The scope and challenge of both on- and off-piste runs is arguably the best in Europe, but this brings its own share of problems. You can often be stymied when queueing up for lifts, and travelling between the various areas by bus or car can often make it feel like you’re wasting valuable powder time. The skiing when you get up to the heights is well worth it though, even if you’ll have to get up pretty early in the morning to find fresh tracks.

And as one of the oldest ski resorts in the world, you’ll find plenty to keep you occupied once the skiing is over at the end of the day. There are plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from, ranging from five that boast a Michelin Star to the kind of places where you can just grab something cheap and tasty to line your stomach for the apres-ski – and rest assured there are dozens of great bars and clubs to choose from! The shopping is excellent too, so make sure you save a few euros to spend in some of Chamonix’s most exclusive boutiques.

 - Loads of lift and ski pass information can be found here.

 - There’s some great links to equipment hire here.

 - Nearest airport: Geneva (60 miles) with coach transfers starting from around €20

Catering & Services

Chalet La Cloche offers a highly personal and professional service that takes the best elements from an exclusive chalet holiday experience (such as great food, prompt transfers, comfortable and stylish accommodation) and give it their own individual touch, creating an exclusive holiday more affordable and personable.

They know only too well that food is one of the key components of any luxury catered ski chalet holiday, therefore the menu is reviewed and adapted regularly to ensure great quality dishes accompanied by select French wines, 6 nights of the week. The chalet uses local produce whenever possible and all meals are freshly prepared, providing a well-deserved end to a day’s skiing!

Breakfast is also provided every morning, as well as freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea. All dietary requirements can be catered for, and there's a separate children's menu and meal times should they be required.

Chamonix is a truly awe inspiring place to bring children, and Chalet La Cloche has years of experience in helping to organise family ski holidays. Whether its child care, ski instruction, or help with equipment such as cots and high chairs, we can help. It is important to choose the right kind of ski instruction for each member of the family and we can also help pre-arrange every aspect of this with our partners at ESF and Prestige outdoors. Chalet La Cloche works with a number of qualified and experienced instructors and ski schools in the valley, and can help find the most suitable one for you.

Private or shared transfers from Geneva airport can easily be arranged so your holiday gets off to the best possible start - please enquire for details! For catered chalet services a private minibus shuttle us provided to get to the slopes in the morning and back to the chalet at the end of the day. It's a simple way to do things to minimise any hassles that works really well!

We’re now offering our customers the chance to enjoy some unforgettable eats with our new Chef Service! Posted by Gavin on 17/02/2017

The rooms were of a great size, plenty of room for everything we could have possibly wanted. The food was very good, everything was catered for, with no problems or fuss. Highly commendable. The hosts could not do enough for us, the up to date local knowledge they gave us was invaluable. We WILL be back, no question. fantastic holiday.
