Five-bedroom Rhodes View Villa is located on the outskirts of charming Rhodes Town, making it an ideal holiday base. The luxury villa oozes style, and is more like a swish pad than a holiday home. It’s built on a secluded hillside in the Monte Smith area, and can comfortably sleep up to twelve guests  across its spacious floors. It’s perfect for groups of families, friends or couples looking for a relaxing stay that’s close to top-notch sights like Rhodes Old Town with its medieval Street of the Knights.

Winning features at this villa include a private outdoor pool and spacious garden area. There’s also flat-screen televisions, free Wi-Fi and a Netflix subscription. If you’re looking for a self-catering stay, Rhodes View Villa is ideal because it has a fully-equipped kitchen as well as an indoor and outdoor dining table, too. There’s also a barbeque outside, and you can pick up fresh produce from the local shops and supermarkets – all within a short walk of the villa.

When it comes to the bedrooms, these don’t disappoint either. There’s a master en-suite bedroom, as well as two more bedrooms on the first floor, and two bedrooms on the ground floor. All the bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and have access to a private balcony. With four bathrooms two – one by the swimming pool – and a bathtub on each floor, the facilities here are second to none.

If you can bring yourself to leave this luxury villa, Rhodes – the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands –  is known for its beach resorts and ancient ruins so there’s plenty to see and do. Explore the UNESCO-listed old town with its parks, squares and hidden corners, try local cuisine or head to the coast for soft, sandy beaches and an array of watersports like snorkelling, kayaking and scuba diving.

What you should know…

  • The villa is near other properties, however it’s designed to be private.
  • It’s on an incline so it’s easier getting to the beach than it is getting back.

Rhodes View Villa is on the outskirts of Rhodes Town. It sits in a peaceful spot overlooking the coast. Rhodes is renowned for its Blue Flag Beaches, so you won’t have any trouble choosing a sunbathing spot. Whether you’re taking a cooling dip, playing with the kids or relaxing with your favourite holiday read, there are beachfront bars and seafood stands to keep you going through the day, too.

The cosmopolitan centre of Rhodes with its old and new town is a must-visit, and is within easy reach of the villa. The UNESCO-listed old town is one of the best-preserved Medieval towns in Europe. You can walk along the narrow paved streets, visit the impressive Venetian Castle and the Byzantine churches or stroll around the charming old port. There’s also a museum there with fascinating artefacts. For another fun day trip, you could make tracks for the Valley of Butterflies – a lush canyon that’s home to a myriad of beautiful butterfly species. Rhodes is also a fantastic place to shop and try local Greek cuisine like fresh seafood and mezes.

If you fancy a heavier hit of retail therapy, you can drive about 50 minutes from Rhodes to Lindos. The former fishing village turned pretty town hides jewellers and boutiques among its network of narrow lanes. Look out for the island’s famous decorative plates or fresh local produce for cooking up a storm back at the villa. The town is also renowned for its stunning clifftop acropolis. There you can immerse yourself in ancient history at the monumental temple, castle and church.

The Island/Getting There

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands of Greece. It’s got a lot of history as it’s been invaded a lot by the Persians, Carians, Ottomans, Italians, and Germans.

Average temperatures go from 20’c in April up to 30’c in July/ August and down to 20’c in November. With an average of 85 rainy days a year they get sunshine for around 280 days.

The island is 90km long with Rhodes town at the northern tip. The airport (Rhodes International Airport "Diagoras") is also in the North (15km from Rhodes Town). Charter flights and Easyjet operate direct from the UK all season and out of season (Nov-March) you’d need to fly via Athens.

The Acropolis – The Acropolis that sits high above the town of Lindos is absolutely amazing and is a must see if you’re looking for some of the best views in all of Rhodes. One thing I should mention is that the climb up to the acropolis requires you to be somewhat active and able to climb stairs, lots of them. The trail begins through town and slowly but surely starts to get steeper as you climb the hill towards the acropolis. Once there, you’re rewarded with historical buildings dating back to 300 BC. Our Villa Corteau sit just underneath the ruins.

Rhodes has over 40 beaches, here are a few:

  • Anthony Quinn’s Bay – Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the most beautiful bays. The bay is located 17km (10 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and offers some incredible photo opportunities to say the least.
  • The beach at Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the best beaches in Rhodes. Get there early if you want to snag a sunbed and umbrella and enjoy wading around the bright blue and green water. Amazing!
  • For the best views of Anthony Quinn’s Bay from above, head on up to the windy road that leads up the hill just north of the bay and you’ll find a spot where you can sit and enjoy the virtually 180 degree views of Rhodes and its coastline.
  • Tsambika Beach (or Tsampika) –  Tsampika beach is located 30km (18 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and is a great place to spend the day in the sun.  Note: Beware there is a small section where nudists congregate on Tsampika beach
  • Lakido Beach – Just opposite Anthony Quinn’s Bay is Lakido beach. It’s literally 3 minutes walking distance from Anthony Quinn’s bay so visiting both beaches in a day is totally doable. As a matter of fact, I would highly recommend visiting both if you get the chance
  • Faliraki Beach – One of the most popular tourist spots on the island of Rhodes. It was known for 18-30’s holiday in the 90-2000’s but I don’t think there is that market so much now. It is quite commercialised now there are water sports and a few diving schools.

How to reach Rhodes island

There are two ways to reach Rhodes Island: either by flight or by ferry.

By plane: If you don’t want to lose time you can fly to Rhodes (RHO) from Athens. The flight lasts 1 hour. Many direct flights also operate from many European countries, so it will not be difficult to arrive there.

By ferry: If you choose to travel from Piraeus to Rhodes with a ferry, it will surely take you much longer but travelling with a ferry in the summer nights can be pretty enticing! The port of Rhodes is located in the southern part of the island and offers bus services to the town centre. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages

With impressive archaeological sites, pristine swimming beaches and plenty of sporting opportunities in the area, Rhodes Island is the ideal place for a family-friendly holiday.

The villa itself has a private swimming pool and is only a short walk from the nearest sandy beach where kids young and old can have fun swimming, snorkelling or playing on the sand. For a fun family-friendly day trip, you can drive to the centre of Rhodes. There, kids can explore the Medieval Old Town with lots of ancient sites and a museum, and there are plenty more beaches.

The Valley of the Butterflies nearby is also a fun and educational day out. There you’ll find a lush green canyon that’s home to millions of beautiful butterflies. There are golf courses nearby too, or for water parks, you can drive 20 minutes South of Rhodes to nearby Faliraki. If a history hit is required the site of the Colossus of Rhodes statue is close by.
