Overview

Pool Villa/House Modern Ideal for Kids Walk to Beach All Bedrooms En-Suite Parking Space

If you appreciate dazzling contemporary architecture, fabulous trendy furnishings, minimalist design and being right next to the beach, the astonishing Villa Chalikounas could be the perfect villa for you. With four astounding bedroom suites, gorgeous contemporary living space, a fabulous swimming pool, alfresco dining and a children’s playground, the villa never fails to meet the dreams of even the most discerning of clients.

Chalikounas Beach is one of the most sought after areas of Corfu, on the west coast yet still only ten or eleven miles from Corfu Town’s many wonderful attractions. Chalikounas boasts a sensational, golden sandy beach, the crystal clear deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea and the natural beauty of the protected Lake Korission. The beach enjoys a couple of beach tavernas and organised sections with sun loungers and umbrellas. There is a kite club in the middle section of the beach where you can learn to kitesurf. Visitors enjoy strolling along the full stretch of the 2.5 km beach or taking a wander around the shimmering Lake Korission. The closest village as the crow flies is Agios Georgios South though you have to drive around the enchanting lake. It is a shorter drive to Messonghi at around 20 minutes.

As you approach Villa Chalikounas, you just know that you are in for a treat. Its sprawling, dazzling white architecture is sure to impress, especially its contrast to the lush green lawns that surround the villa. The villa’s beachfront location is a total blessing. This fabulous villa offers a very striking living space. Like the exterior, the walls are dazzling white and a whole wall of sliding glass doors drown the space in natural light and open to the terrace, lawns and the sea. You will not find much colour in this contemporary pad, just white, more white, grey in the kitchen and bathrooms and the rich tones of wood. It works, it feels luxurious. The living space is divided into three zones, firstly the grey and wooden ultra modern kitchen, then a gorgeous dining area with a trendy wooden table and white Eames style chairs followed by your sumptuous white corner sofa and television. Scattered around are coffee tables and other occasional wooden furniture carrying on the wood theme. Every corner of this spectacular living space enjoys fabulous garden and sea views. It is such a dreamy spot. The lower ground floor of the villa is home to a playroom, a laundry room and one of the bedroom suites.

Each of the four bedrooms is a heavenly retreat with simple, clean line, minimalist design, super comfy king-size beds, superb luxurious linens and fabulous, sleek grey and white ensuite bathrooms with walk in showers. As you might expect, the bedrooms are all dazzling white with the odd splash of grey. Three of the luxury bedrooms enjoy sensational seascapes with floor-to-ceiling doors opening onto the ground floor terrace or to the upper one. The upper terrace is gorgeous and boasts the most dreamy sea views on one side and beautiful Lake Korission views from the side. It also enjoys trendy outdoor loungers, the perfect quiet spot to enjoy your holiday read.

Outside, the terrace offers a fabulous swimming pool lined by cool white sun loungers. To one side of the villa, beyond the pool, you will discover a stunning alfresco dining area with a contemporary central firepit. It is the perfect spot to enjoy delicious cocktails while watching the sun go down. How amazing to enjoy barbecues in this very special setting! Children are not forgotten as there is a children’s playground to the side of the villa.

You will enjoy a fabulous time at this ultra cool, elegant villa and leave for home with magical holiday memories.

Villa Chalikounas boasts a phenomenal beachfront location. This contemporary wonder is just steps from the glistening, inviting Ionian Sea and is only 0.3 miles from the delightful Lake Korission. Guests staying at Villa Chalikounas are spoilt for choice with beaches. The nearest is Alonaki Beach and Chalikounas Beach itself is just 700 yards way. Kanouli Beach is 1.4 miles away, Prasoudi Beach is 1.7 miles away, Issos Beach is 2.7 miles away and only 3.6 miles away is the gorgeous Agios Gordios Beach. This coastline of golden sand is simply astounding.

Chalikounas is a fabulous resort, extremely popular with kitesurfers and others that enjoy days on the beach. Visitors also enjoy fishing and hiking around the lake. Agios Georgios South is the closest village to the villa though you do have to drive around the lake to visit. It enjoys a long sandy beach to the south of Lake Korission and is surrounded by olive groves. It is very laid back and tranquil, perfect for couples, families and those that love nature. It boasts gorgeous sand dunes and easy walks to the saltwater lagoon, a must for wildlife lovers. There are an endless supply of day trips, boat trips and beachside tavernas. Messonghi is another fabulous village with a good selection of restaurants and bars and a few supermarkets and shops.

Lake Korission is a coastal lagoon separated from the sea by the fabulous Chalikounas Beach. The lagoon was created by the sand dunes that cut the lake’s basin off from the sea. The lake is over 5 km long from one end to the other and roughly 1.5 km at its widest. The lake is home to native and migrating birds including seagulls, owls, buzzards, swallows and if you are lucky, flamingoes.

There are many attractions within very easy reach of the villa. The villa is ten or eleven miles south west from the notable Corfu Town attractions, a very easy drive. Corfu Town, birthplace of the late Duke of Edinburgh, is one of the most beautiful, graceful and elegant towns in Greece. Corfu Town falls between two great Venetian coastal fortresses and within lies a very modern capital brimming with elegant mansions, magnificent palaces, beautiful squares and no fewer than 39 churches including the beautiful Church of Saint Spiridon. The Duke of Edinburgh was born at the fabulous Mon Repos Palace. Next to the palace gardens you will find the calm waters of the Mon Repos Beach. To the north, you will find Faliraki Beach. The town’s stunning architecture has many influences including Sicilian, Venetian, French and English. The entire Old Town is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, a tightly-packed warren of cobbled winding lanes bursting with lively bars, boutiques and fine restaurants. You will also see timeless alleys with the day’s washing stretching from balcony to balcony, such a pretty scene, especially with colourful bougainvillea draped everywhere. There are also some interesting museums including the Byzantine Museum of Corfu which is housed in a 15th century church. Others are the Museum of Ceramic Art, the D Solomos Museum and the Asian Art Museum.

Just south of Corfu Town and north of Gouvia is the magical Kontokali peninsula. The town is named after Christophoros Kontokalis, a sea captain and shipowner who was awarded he estate by the Venetians after his successful participation in the Battle of Lepant. It is definitely worth a visit, as is Gouvia. Gouvia is a charming, former fishing village which is now a modern holiday resort with plenty of amenities for all ages. It boasts a pretty pebble beach and a stunning marina. It also offers many atmospheric restaurants, bars and cafes along the main street of the village. Its 18th century shipyard is still remarkably intact. The views from Gouvia are really stunning with the sparkling Ionian Sea and Corfu Town on the horizon.

Guests staying at Villa Chalikounas also enjoy visiting the Achilleion Palace just over 6 miles away, Pontikonisi 7.5 miles away and Glyfada Beach 10.1 miles away.
