The beautiful Villa Typhon is located in Pyrgi, on the outskirts of the wonderful city of Mytilini. Its brilliant lakeside location with its own private beach is like no other. Guests can laze on the swing bed mesmerised by the splendid lake view or wander onto the private, idyllic beach. Blissful,  and perfect for four lucky guests.

Mytilini is full of life and full of surprises. It is built on seven hills and offers a very interesting history. Its museums are fascinating with remnants of the last three thousand years of history. Mytilini boasts many monuments, houses, churches, schools and other buildings from many historical periods so it feels like you are walking around a museum. It is a very friendly city with interesting shops, fantastic cuisine, charming cafes and a good nightlife. The city spreads up into the hills and mountains from the large, busy harbour. It is crowned by an enormous castle which is surrounded by a lush pine forest. The castle is used for concerts, theatre and art festivals in the summer. The airport is just 4 miles from Villa Typhon so you will be relaxing at the villa in no time!

Villa Typhon is a fabulous two bedroom, two bathroom villa with a gorgeous open plan living space and spectacular lake views. Its garden is delightful, with plenty of magical spots. There may not be a swimming pool but you are just steps from the inviting, crystal clear waters of the lake.

The open plan living space is bright and airy, with a whole wall of floor-to-ceiling glass doors drowning this gorgeous space in natural light and offering sensational panorama from every angle. The comfy corner sofa and trendy dining table are perfectly positioned so that guests enjoy the garden and lake views. The kitchen is fabulous with everything you need for a self-catering stay plus a sociable breakfast bar so that guests can keep the chef in your group company. Throughout this lovely villa you will find lots of seaside touches such as driftwood and artworks. They give the villa a delightful, homely ambience where you immediately feel very welcome.

Villa Typhon boasts two double bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms. The double beds are super comfy, and the room style is minimalist with curtains covering the wardrobe arrangements of shelves and hanging rails. The bathrooms are semi-open to the bedroom, though with privacy screening. They feature lots of traditional Greek curved walls.

Guests are likely to spend most of their time outside in the very pretty garden brimming with ancient olive trees and lovely plants. It is very tranquil and so special to be able to wander onto the beach to watch the sun come up or go down. There is a small deck overlooking the beach with sun loungers and an awning for shade. How lovely to enjoy this private, intimate spot with such a glorious panorama in front of you! Guests have use of a barbecue.

The wonderful Villa Typhon is located in Pyrgi, on the outskirts of the bustling city of Mytilini. The villa is lakeside with its own private beach though still very close to many other wonderful beaches. Tsamakia Beach is 2.6 miles away, Fikiotripa Beach 2.9 miles, Chalatses Beach 2.9 miles, Evriaki Beach 3 miles and Kochilia Beach 4.9 miles away.

Mytilini has so much to offer being a culturally enlightened city. The surrounding pine forest reaches down to the shore and the public beach. Mytilini’s castle is well worth the trip as the views are incredible, and you will get a whole new perspective of the city with horses and donkeys grazing on the hills. The waterfront is very busy aside from siesta time. The main street is lined with cafes, restaurants and shops. Many of the island’s children come to the city for high school, and it is the home of the University of the Aegean. There are many cultural activities as well as basketball tournaments and an indoor swimming pool. The marketplace is one of the most active in Greece, with plenty of fresh fish, pastourma, sardeles pastes and ouzo. You should make a stop at the Matis Ouzo factory in the market where it has been bottling its award-winning ouzo for a hundred years. You will also discover an array of ancient antique shops worthy of a browse. Ermou Street is full of historic, beautiful buildings where you can buy art, jewellery and hand-painted pottery. The City of Mytilini is a maze of small streets, and beyond is the ancient harbour which used to be connected to the new harbour by a canal. The old neoclassical mansions throughout the city are very impressive as are the Theophilos and Teriade Art Museum in the Varia neighbourhood. The Archaeological Museum of Mytilini is also very popular. There is a long dock separating the swimming area from the harbour which is roughly half a mile long. It is popular for a stroll or cycle ride, plus you will find people fishing there.

The 23 beaches of Lesvos are often small pebbled bays, some totally secluded even in high season. Vatera, Petra and Molyvos beaches offer excellent watersports and are organised with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. The stunning Vatera Beach is as long as many of the Cyclades islands themselves. You could almost fit any of the Cyclades islands in the Bay of Kaloni.

Petra is a romantic old village brimming with pretty squares, terracotta buildings and narrow cobblestone streets. Its church, Panagia Glykofilousa, stands proud at the top of the village, soaring high above the rooftops. Sightseeing and shopping merge perfectly in Petra. The streets are lined with little shops selling locally crafted wood, jewellery and art plus there is a small Ouzo distillery that has been run by the same family for generations. If you are interested in history, you might wander into Vareltzidaina’s House, the restored home of a 19th-century merchant. You will enjoy strolling along the golden sandy beach and snorkelling with colourful fish in the clear blue water.

The beautiful island of Lesvos is awash with gorgeous scenery, medieval castles, ancient monuments, charming villages and plenty of museums. The most famous museum is The World of Ouzo Museum, which is situated in Isidoros Arvanitis in a fabulous olive grove, just a few minutes from the village of Plomari. The distillery has been going for more than 120 years and exports its delicious ouzo to more than 30 countries around the world. Visitors can taste and buy the ouzo. Other fascinating museums include the Iakovidis Digital Museum and the Museum of the Petrified Forest which was founded in 1994 to research, promote, display, preserve and protect the unique forest. The Petrified Forest, 12 km from Sigri, is a rare natural site that was officially declared a natural monument in 1985. It was petrified because of the intense volcanic activity of the area. The Vranas Olive Press Museum in Kaloni is housed in a beautiful industrial building built by Nikolaos Vranas, the grandfather of the poet Odysseas Elytis.

Lesvos’ hot springs, health-inducing spas are dotted around the island. Many have been used for thousands of years for rheumatism, arthritis, gynaecological and dermatological ailments as well as kidney and gallstones, neurological ailments, bronchitis and sciatica. The main locations are Efthalia, Thermes and Gera. The island’s landscape is rugged with mountains and lush forests. If you visit the island in the spring, you will be rewarded with one of the most amazing displays of wildflowers and wild birds you will ever see. Lesvos is a major stop in the migration routes of European birds coming from Africa. Although there are many birdwatching spots around the island, the most famous is the salt lakes close to Kalloni, in the centre of the island. The island is renowned for its high-quality olive oil as well as its ouzo. Lesvos is sprinkled with many picturesque villages. The village of Molyvos is a must-visit for its spectacular views of the Aegean Sea. An imposing medieval castle sits above the village where it used to protect the village from invasions. You can take some lovely boat excursions from Molyvos. The ancient walls of Molyvos were once besieged by Archilles himself. Other pretty villages include Mytilene, Agiossos and Skala Sikamias. The seaside town of Sigri is very popular, a remote outpost of Greek island tourism. Other attractions include the Monastery of Saint Raphael, the Ipsilou Monastery, The Ancient Theatre of Lesvos and the Roman Aqueduct, which dates from the 3rd century AD. The Castle of Mytilene was originally built in medieval times but has undergone many transformations by the Genovese and the Turks.
