Just a 3-minute drive from the centre of Lardos, this exceptional 4-bedroom villa comes highly recommended. With beautiful sea views due to its proximity to Lothiarika Beach, Villa Lardos has an impressive amount of outdoor space including a large, private swimming pool.

This tranquil villa is suitable for up to 10 guests and lies just steps away from the beach. You’ll love its expansive terrace with lounge seating facing the ocean and the magnificent pool. You have sun loungers, parasols and a large barbecue, as well as a covered dining area, all in an idyllic setting on Rhodes’ southern coast.

The villa is within a 10-minute drive of local amenities in Pefkos, where there are supermarkets, bars and restaurants, and Lindos, home of the clifftop Lindos Acropolis. Numerous beaches line the coast down to Pefkos, offering plenty of choice, but none are closer than Lothiarika Beach, found right outside your villa. With sandy and pebble areas, this beach has bars and restaurants nearby, and you can take a boat trip up to Lindos in just a few minutes.

Inside, the house features a light and airy lounge with direct access to the terrace where you have another covered dining area. You’ll have ample seating and a flat-screen TV, and air-conditioning to keep you comfortable. The adjacent kitchen area is well equipped, with a dishwasher, microwave, oven and fridge freezer. The property is equipped with free Wi-Fi too.

The villa features four bedrooms, three of which have double beds. The fourth features a cabin-style bed with step access, big enough to accommodate a few younger guests. There are two bathrooms with showers at Villa Lardos, one of which also accommodates a washing machine.

Perfectly situated for enjoying the best of the island, the villa is around one hour’s drive from Diagoras International Airport and the town of Rhodes itself, located on the isle’s north-eastern tip. The Old Town, where the big attraction is the UNESCO World Heritage site, Palace of the Grand Masters, is certainly worth a visit.

Other possibilities for excursions include the beautiful Epta Piges nature reserve with its seven springs, The Valley of the Butterflies, and the beaches of Faliraki, Afantou and Archangelos – just some of those which line the eastern coast of the island. With some stunning areas of natural beauty, as well as a fascinating history, Rhodes rewards exploration, and every part of the island is within reach of your villa’s beachfront location in Lardos.

Rhodes is one of the largest Greek islands, but not so huge that you can’t cover it all in one trip. Full of scenic beaches and sites of natural beauty, it’s a joy to discover. You’ll find the eastern coast lined with a number of fine beaches and, at the northernmost point, the town and capital that shares the island’s name.

The city of Rhodes is known for its architecturally impressive Old Town, one of the largest and best-preserved medieval towns in all of Europe. The big attraction is the Palace of the Grand Masters, a former fortress and citadel that forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking the old city walls is also well worth your time.

The jumbled streets of Rhodes host many some worthwhile attractions. You can uncover the history of Rhodes at the Archaeological Museum, or try The Museum of Modern Greek Art. Landmarks such as Evangelismós Cathedral can also be found in town.

Down the coast from Rhodes is the resort of Faliraki. If the name rings alarm bells, don’t worry, it’s calmed down quite a bit in recent years. One of Faliraki’s highlights is the family-friendly beach, and a good water-park adds to the fun too. Other ideas for family days out include the Toy Museum near the village of Archipoli, which showcases Greek toys from down the decades – it’s free to visit and in a lovely location. The Bee Museum of Rhodes is the only one of its kind in Greece, and a fine place to discover all things bee (and buy some yummy honey too).

Other key sights include the Lindos Acropolis, the ancient ruins of which are situated on the clifftop at Lindos and therefore offer spectacular views of the Mediterranean. The Valley of the Butterflies is also noteworthy, situated west of Faliraki. South of the town is one of the island’s best-loved beaches, the idyllic Anthony Quinn Bay, a fine place to go snorkelling. About 15 minutes’ drive from there, the flowing Epta Piges (Seven Springs) offer another magnificent sight you can squeeze into one day. You can swim in the lake and enjoy the natural beauty of this iconic Rhodes attraction.

If you’re after nightlife, you’re in the right place – Rhodes town and Lindos both offer a range of clubs and bars, and the latter has some luxurious rooftop restaurants overlooking the Lindos Acropolis too. Even the quieter parts of the island usually have some nice beach bars to check out, with Pefkos a good choice for an evening with the family. If you’ve no such concerns, Rhodes’ Orfanidou Street is considered party central.

The Island/Getting There

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands of Greece. It’s got a lot of history as it’s been invaded a lot by the Persians, Carians, Ottomans, Italians, and Germans.

Average temperatures go from 20’c in April up to 30’c in July/ August and down to 20’c in November. With an average of 85 rainy days a year they get sunshine for around 280 days.

The island is 90km long with Rhodes town at the northern tip. The airport (Rhodes International Airport "Diagoras") is also in the North (15km from Rhodes Town). Charter flights and Easyjet operate direct from the UK all season and out of season (Nov-March) you’d need to fly via Athens.

The Acropolis – The Acropolis that sits high above the town of Lindos is absolutely amazing and is a must see if you’re looking for some of the best views in all of Rhodes. One thing I should mention is that the climb up to the acropolis requires you to be somewhat active and able to climb stairs, lots of them. The trail begins through town and slowly but surely starts to get steeper as you climb the hill towards the acropolis. Once there, you’re rewarded with historical buildings dating back to 300 BC. Our Villa Corteau sit just underneath the ruins.

Rhodes has over 40 beaches, here are a few:

  • Anthony Quinn’s Bay – Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the most beautiful bays. The bay is located 17km (10 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and offers some incredible photo opportunities to say the least.
  • The beach at Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the best beaches in Rhodes. Get there early if you want to snag a sunbed and umbrella and enjoy wading around the bright blue and green water. Amazing!
  • For the best views of Anthony Quinn’s Bay from above, head on up to the windy road that leads up the hill just north of the bay and you’ll find a spot where you can sit and enjoy the virtually 180 degree views of Rhodes and its coastline.
  • Tsambika Beach (or Tsampika) –  Tsampika beach is located 30km (18 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and is a great place to spend the day in the sun.  Note: Beware there is a small section where nudists congregate on Tsampika beach
  • Lakido Beach – Just opposite Anthony Quinn’s Bay is Lakido beach. It’s literally 3 minutes walking distance from Anthony Quinn’s bay so visiting both beaches in a day is totally doable. As a matter of fact, I would highly recommend visiting both if you get the chance
  • Faliraki Beach – One of the most popular tourist spots on the island of Rhodes. It was known for 18-30’s holiday in the 90-2000’s but I don’t think there is that market so much now. It is quite commercialised now there are water sports and a few diving schools.

How to reach Rhodes island

There are two ways to reach Rhodes Island: either by flight or by ferry.

By plane: If you don’t want to lose time you can fly to Rhodes (RHO) from Athens. The flight lasts 1 hour. Many direct flights also operate from many European countries, so it will not be difficult to arrive there.

By ferry: If you choose to travel from Piraeus to Rhodes with a ferry, it will surely take you much longer but travelling with a ferry in the summer nights can be pretty enticing! The port of Rhodes is located in the southern part of the island and offers bus services to the town centre. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

This lovely villa is perfect for beach-loving kids. It’s right there on their doorstep, so as soon as they’re done in the amazing swimming pool they can go play on the sand. They will love dining on the outdoor terrace in the evenings, and can get comfy inside with TV and Wi-Fi taken care of too.

There’s a lot more to explore around Rhodes, with the nearby village of Lardos providing plenty of things to see locally. All kinds of water-sports are on offer, including snorkelling and surfing, and boat trips offer a great way to see the coast in a more relaxed way. Lardos has a mini-golf centre with an 18-hole course, as well as diving centres, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink, many with outdoor terraces.

Numerous beaches along the coast offer loads more opportunities to enjoy the sun. One of the best family beaches on the island is Faliraki, a well-organised beach with shallow waters and a great water-park nearby. With a pirate ship and a toddlers’ pool, it’s well set up for the very youngest, while a wave pool, lazy river and some more extreme slides are among the attractions for the rest of the family.

Much closer to Lardos, the beach at Lindos is also good for families, while the beautiful Anthony Quinn’s Bay is perfect for snorkelling, with crystal clear waters. You can find it around 15km south of Rhodes town.

Full of colourful creatures, the Valley of the Butterflies is one of the island’s must-sees. Surrounded by forest, a walk in the valley is wonderfully scenic. At the entrance to the valley, you will find the Natural History Museum of Rhodes. Epta Piges, or the Seven Springs, is another lovely outdoor attraction. The beautiful lake which the springs fill is a very popular spot. You can access the lake via a dark, narrow tunnel as water flows around your feet – or just follow the path.

Also on a watery theme, the Marine Aquarium in Rhodes town offers a fascinating look at the aquatic wildlife of the region. You can see turtles, octopuses and many varieties of fish, as well as organisms like reefs and sea flowers. All this is located in the basement of Rhodes’ Hydrobiological Station.

Rhodes will also provide plenty of delicacies to tempt your kids. For those with a sweet tooth, look out for custard-filled pastries, galaktoboureko, or the yummy honey and cinnamon doughnuts, loukoumadhes. Many restaurants around the island offer good children’s menus, and you’ll have no trouble finding burgers, pizzas and other familiar favourites alongside the enticing Greek cuisine.

  • More than exceptional

    on 09/08/2020

Our stay at the villa was wonderful. We received the warmest welcome and treatment throughout our whole stay by Donna, the villa's manager. The location is right at the beach and one can find plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, great for a family stay. The villa itself was extremely clean, well maintained and facilitated, and we got everything we asked for and even more. We definitely consider coming back next year.
