Overview of Villa Oliva

What Oliver loves…

  • The villa is used to produce and sell the local olive oil. Guests can sample it.
  • Of all the villas in the vicinity, Villa Oliva has the most standout views of the surrounding valleys.
  • Barbara, the caretaker, is unbelievably charming and helpful. She is multilingual and can ride over on her scooter if anything is needed.

What you should know…

  • The Satnav takes people a mile beyond the villa to a small hamlet. It is best to get directions from the owners or Barbara.
  • The villa shares an entrance with 3 other villas, but everything is very private. Last summer, two gentleman from the same firm booked a villa on the estate and only realised it on their return.

Villa Oliva is an original olive press which has been charmingly restored to create a warm and welcoming home filled with typical features.

There are 4 delightful bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms, for up to 8 guests. Reception rooms include large and comfortable lounges and a spacious Tuscan kitchen with an eat-in breakfast room.

The gardens are surrounded by terraced olive groves with valley views across the swimming pool to the medieval towers of Lucca. Outside is the perfect place to enjoy relaxing summer evenings with close family and friends and experience a little piece of Tuscan heaven.

Map, Location & Local Information

Villa Oliva is situated in the beautiful little Tuscan town of Lucca. Protected by massively thick 16th-century walls, and featuring some of Italy's finest medieval and Renaissance architecture, superb dining, antique markets, classical and rock music festivals and endless beaches less than half an hour away, Lucca is one of Tuscany's best-kept secrets.

A wealthy and colorful town that draws more discerning tourists than Florence or Pisa, it is sufficiently off the beaten track enough to have kept its civility and reserve. Lucca is a city of merchants who know how to impress visitors and shoppers, but the pace of life varies between slow and slower.

Visitors to Tuscany come for many reasons. Many come in search of fine art and others to explore the extraordinary countryside. Gourmets and wine buffs descend on Tuscany to enjoy the simple but wonderful cuisine and wine. Walkers enjoy the mountain paths, cyclists the rolling hills, and summer vacationers the sea coast and islands. Students come to learn the beautiful Italian language and culture.

From the Etruscans to the Romans to the Renaissance, Tuscany is possibly the greatest repository of art in the world, from extraordinary paintings and sculptures to frescoes and architectural masterpieces. This captivating region is a hub of Italian life, boasting the finest dining, the finest wines and breathtakingly picturesque scenery.
