  • Special

    on 29/06/2023

We just wanted to thank you again for making our time in the Loire so special. You truly did leave a footprint on all our hearts. We even named Annie's new doll after you! Stay well and and perhaps our paths will cross again.

  • Amazing Stay!

    on 20/09/2018

We had a lovely stay at Chateau De Raguerniere last September.

  • Perfect for the whole family!

    on 07/02/2013

'We have stayed at Chateau Du Raguermiere at Easter and Summer and fell in love with it as soon as we visited it the first time. It is very luxuriously decorated in a subtle mix of 19 century style and trendy designer pieces which blend very well to give it an updated classic feel.
Staying there is such a special experience and it really feels like home but with all the grandeur of the high ceilings, spacious rooms, long corridors that stretch the length of the building on each floor, immaculate gardens and grounds and the fun feeling that the chateau is really ours for the time we are there! Our children and their friends have enormous fun playing endless games of ‘it’, hide and seek, swimming, running up to the fruit and vegetable garden to choose things they ask John to prepare for their supper, or picking and eating as much fruit as they can. We all tried archery, boules and Frisbee golf and took the bikes out to Langeais. My husband runs the jogging trail and we both used the gym. Caroline even found a Personal Trainer to visit while we stayed, to help to motivate us.
John and Caroline are wonderful – helpful, friendly and happy to shop, cook, tidy up and babysit as much as we want; yet never around too much. We have many special memories of delicious, beautifully presented lunches by the pool; evening drinks and canapes in the courtyard or drawing room and superb dinners served in the dining room. Often we just wandered down into Langeais to the local cafes and restaurants for lunch and dinner as it’s such an easy and pleasant walk past the huge Langeais chateau. There’s lots of choice including a pizzeria, creperie, gastronomic restaurants, lots of cafes plus ice cream and chocolate shops. John and Caroline booked some restaurants for us before we arrived in France as we wanted to plan some nights out without the children, so we wandered down to Langeais for dinner while Caroline babysat. The children love them both! The people in the shops, cafes and restaurants speak English and are very friendly; and the town is so nice as it is definitely French and not too touristy. The Sunday market in Langeais is amazing and definitely worth visiting, with every kind of food, crockery, leather goods, clothing, shoes and curios for sale.
We would highly recommend holidaying at Chateau De Raguermiere, as it’s our dream place to stay and we only wish we could book it up more often.’

  • Well restored and beautifully re-decorated

    on 07/02/2013

‘We stayed at Chateau De Raguermiere in July 2012. It is an impressive and attractive 19th century chateau that has been very well restored and beautifully re-decorated.
Though it would accommodate a large group, it has an intimate feel. The enclosed wooded grounds are very well kept (including a vegetable garden) and the large heated pool and terrace area are excellent and a sun-trap. We were well looked after and made to feel welcome by the English couple who run the estate – they have lived in France for many years.
Domaine Du Fort is on the edge of the attractive small town of Langeais, on the River Loire about 15 minutes west of Tours (which is a noted gastronomic centre). We found a couple of good restaurants and interesting small shops, plus a massive fortress which is worth a visit. The main Loire Valley attractions (Chenenceaux, Villandry, Amboise, etc.) are all close by and there are several reasonably easy routes from the UK. We drove via the Channel Tunnel and near-empty motorways (via Rouen) but there are also Ryanair flights from Stansted to Tours. The other options include a very fast TGV link direct from Tours to Paris CDG airport and the Portsmouth – Caen/St Malo ferry.
I’d certainly recommend it for medium and larger parties. The pool and secure grounds make it a very good place for families in the summer.’
Mr A - Henley on Thames, UK

  • Absolutely stunning property

    on 07/02/2013

‘This is an absolutely stunning property. The pool area is perfect and relaxing in the summer heat. The rooms are spacious and luxuriously decorated with nice views. John and Caroline were lovely and very accommodating. I would recommend having them prepare your meals - the food was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented.’
