The Chateau de Grazay is set in the heart of the tranquil Loire Valley, nestled in rural surroundings on 2 hectares of recreational land. This French holiday chateau can only be described as superb!
14 guests can be comfortably hosted in the 6 bedroom chateau and 1 bedroom gatehouse. There is an indoor games room, which features table tennis, table football and a variety of board games. There is also a private heated swimming pool, a terrace and a recently laid hard tennis court for you and your guests to enjoy.
Situated in the Loire Valley midway between the city of Tours and Saumur, Chateau de Grazay is a classic Loire chateau rental that has all the amenities you could hope for, as well as being a perfect base for exploring this awe inspiring region of France.
What you should know…
- Grazay isn't actually a chateau, it is a Manor. It is seriously stunning however!
- The nearest town is a good 25 minute walk, however there are half a dozen usable bicycles which are brilliant fun to zip around on.
- The excellent housekeeper will pop in once or twice a week to make sure the pool is clean and the flowers watered.

This is a historic home, and as such:
- It has probably been standing for over 100 years, which means it's full of historic value and charm but it may also have one or two quirks!
- Some of the decor and furnishings may not be brand new, but that should not detract from your holiday experience in this unique setting that allows you to take a step back in time!
Property Features
On the ground floor there is a hall, a large kitchen and breakfast room, a separate dining room, a family room with open fireplace, freesat TV and DVD. There is also a WC, an office/snug, large utility room and an impressive salle de jeux complete with table tennis, table football and board games.
On the first floor the main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. There are 2 further double bedrooms, a WC and a family bathroom with shower facilities. On the 2nd floor the main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. There are also 2 twin bedrooms and a large bathroom. There is also an electric Roland piano for your enjoyment.
The private gatehouse offers a double bed, kitchen living room and bathroom.
The gardens enjoy beautiful terraces at front and rear, whilst the courtyard has access to and from the kitchen and can be contained for small children. There is a purpose-built stone BBQ and a large lawned area. There is also a heated, swimming pool (12 x 6 m), open approximately April to end-September. and hard tennis court within the estate. There is lots of safe parking available and plenty of room for ball games.

About the surrounding area of Chateau De GrazayThe nearest airports are Tours (55km) and Poitiers (60km). The Chateau de Grazay is situated in the Loire Valley midway between the city of Tours and Saumur.
For your basic needs Champigny-sur-Veude is 3km away and the charming and famous Chinon is 12km away. The vineyards and golf courses immediately surrounding the chateau are to die for.

An Incredible Property

Chateau du Grazay has the wow factor!
The welcome from the housekeeper and the wonderful Chateau we enjoyed with our entire family for two weeks made this a superb start to our holiday.
Although the weather was inclement at times, we enjoyed the heated pool, the games room, the space and of course the tennis court.
The markets and the Chateaux of the Loire were all close enough to visit but the enjoyment for the children of being in their own Chateau made this the holiday of their dreams.
A very special place with special people and it worked so very well for us all. -
More than expected!
Your home is much more than we expected or hoped for - it is going to make such a wonderful home for us with our family over the next two weeks. The warmth of welcome from the owner and the lovely goodies you have arranged to leave for us have been amazing. Thank you so much and we will take care of your home as if it was ours. Nobody wanted to leave
We’re having a great time at Grazay. The house and grounds are wonderful. Wanted to say how much we have enjoyed our week. We definitely look forward to coming back again. We have ended up heading back to the UK this evening, in light of the quarantine rules being imposed. It’s a shame we had to leave early...nobody in our party wanted to!

We have stayed in countless houses in France but yours has topped them all! It was completely perfect for us, plenty of room for everyone, each room was stunning and spotlessly clean. So much to do with the pool, tennis and the games room. Honestly, we had the best time. I also loved the location as there were plenty of interesting places to visit. We loved Chinon and hired bikes from the chaps next to the campsite on the river. Had delicious pizza in Richelieu, wine tasting in Chinon and a couple of Château visits. We’ve all agreed that we’d like to come back (which is a first) but this time for two weeks. It really was amazing, you’ve thought of absolutely everything and we completely fell in love with the Chateau du Grazay.

Memorable holiday

Idyllic holiday venue
We are just back from a wonderful week in the beautiful Chateau De Grazay. It was a brilliant venue to not only entertain five children, with the eldest being 5 and the youngest 1, but also the grown ups. Fun was had sampling the local wines, and hours were spent round the pool and generally outside (in between the rain showers). The house is incredibly well equipped and we will have very fond memories of a wonderful time away, thank you. We would highly recommend a booking.

Excellent chateau, had everything we needed
A wonderful Holiday Chateau with all the facilities that any family could possibly require. We managed to use most of the facilities including the excellent swimming pool and tennis court. On the one wet day the games room came into full use.

My Family and I had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. The facilities were outstanding and we could not have asked for anything more. I think that we took advantage of all the games and the children spent many hours in the lovely pool. I found the Gate House excellent for my needs and a few moments quiet when it was required…. a wonderful week in a grand Chateau - where we hope to be able to go to again sometime.

Beautiful Home
C de Grazay is a beautiful home and superbly maintained property. The pool catches the sun all day and is a good size, tennis court newly surfaced.
All the bedrooms are spacious, as are the bathrooms. The kitchen is large and airy( we spent most of our time when indoors gathered here!) and the TV room adjoining it was very comfortably furnished and a relaxing place to put the grandchildren when they came in from all their energetic outdoor fun! We really could not think of anything that was not 'right'. The owners have given a lot of thought to the little details that make a house a home. Would definitely recommend this property for a group holiday (for any age group!) -
A wonderful time
Dear Philip, my family and I had a wonderful time at your house last week. We took advantage of all of the amenities, including the pool, tennis court, games room, and bikes. We also cooked several meals in the kitchen and on the outdoor grill, taking advantage of the fresh herbs from the garden. All of the rooms were very comfortable and exactly as they looked in the pictures. I've already recommended your property to my supervisor for his family reunion next year and would be very happy to serve as a reference in the future.

A glorious time
Dear Philip,
We’re just back from another glorious time in Grazay. It made us all very happy to be there; it is such special place - the house itself, the grounds and the facilities, especially the magnificent pool, and the countryside around the house. We were very fortunate with the weather for the week when the family were with us, so were able to enjoy the pool every day. Chris, my husband, and I really enjoyed our quiet days on our own there too. We had time to cycle more and explore the towns and villages nearby. Thank you very much for getting a bigger bed for the gatehouse. It was much appreciated. I’m afraid we had three, smallish breakages - a tumbler, a wine glass and a Denby mug. We used Erik Maillard on a few nights, and he was a great success. Initially we’d thought he was very expensive - 50 euros per person for 5 courses, but after one night of this, we decided 3 courses per person for 35 euros actually suited us better, as we were very happy to do the cheese course ourselves, and prefer a cheese board, to the sort of single cheese dish Erik does. He’s a very sweet, kind man and served all the courses to us outside (he says he can do this for up to 8 people, but any more is too much for him on his own). He arrived to start his preparations about 4pm and seemed to enjoy the swill of everyone moving around him in the kitchen. He fed the two children (at no cost) at a time to suit them, and cleared up the kitchen immaculately, washing dishes as we ate, so there was nothing to do at the end of the evening except load the dishwasher with the dishes from our final course. And the food was excellent. Thank you giving us his details. So many thanks for letting us share your beautiful property. As everyone left, one by one, they all said - hope we can come back very soon. If we can make it work with all the complications of the various parts of our family, we very much hope that will be next year. Best wishes, Megan

Excellent family getaway
If you hadn’t written to me I would have in any event have written to you to tell you what a wonderful holiday we have all had at Grazay , & how much we all loved being in your Chateau.
I think we used all rooms in the house & all outside areas for sports games . The latter include tennis, swimming , rounders & volleyball.
The indoor facilities were just as good & each room was used on most days .
Your information pack is really well put together. Congratulations to the author .

returning even before we left. It was so warm that we didn't play
tennis, and so wasted your fantastic court, and we also felt we hadn't explored the countryside or the towns at all. But the house and grounds were so fantastic that we were completely happy.

We all enjoyed the tennis court and swimming pool
I just wanted to let you know what a beautiful house you have in Grazay and what a lovely couple of weeks we have just spent there, even though the weather was not always brilliant.
We all enjoyed the tennis court and swimming pool and I found your brilliantly equipped kitchen a great treat in which to cook with the added bonus of your wonderful herb garden. Your next door neighbour even sold us some of her home grown haricot verts, cucumbers and courgettes!
We had dinner at the Auberge in the vineyard, though sadly were not able to eat outside, and would certainly never have found such a hidden gem without your recommendation.

The house was magnificent!
Everything went very smoothly. The house was magnificent, everything in perfect working order.
Our youngest son, Sebastian, has declared that he never wants any other holiday destination in his life! This will lead to some discussion about next year's plans, as we usually visit a different country or area every year.

Despite a slightly wetter week than we had hoped for, we managed to dodge the showers and make use of the swimming pool and tennis court, not to mention the games room! It was a truly lovely place to stay, it had everything you needed and could have hoped for, we will be definitely recommending it to our friends and hope if we stay again we may be blessed with sunnier weather!

Very good value for money
Hello Philip, The chateau was extremely comfortable. Everything down to the kitchenware was high spec. The particular highlights for me were the tennis court, and the pool being heated at a constant 28 degrees meant swimming was possible at all hours. The caretakers are a real asset for you, charming as anything and so helpful. It's an extremely stylish property and the on-site facilities are such a bonus. This is a superb property, which represented very good value for money, in a beautiful part of the Loire. Hope to return.

It is our dream come true holiday
We found your chateau without any problem and are ecstatic with how beautiful it is. It is our dream come true holiday and we thank you very much. It is beautifully decorated and cared for and perfect for our holiday! We have noticed one small thing that you may already be aware of. The flushing button on the ground floor toilet keeps getting stuck and continues to fill. We have been able to stop it manually but it may need seeing to. Apart from this minor thing, everything else is perfect! Thank you again and warm regards.

We had a fabulous time for two weeks.
We absolutely loved our stay at Grazay. It couldn't have been better - everything in the house was just so well thought through - we all really felt it was a proper home and not just a holiday rental. We may have worn your petanque out - given the use it got - thankfully I managed to remain top dog although my wife would disagree! There was a new intermarche in Richelieu which we found which is quite good and quite near - I also visited both your wine recommendations and certainly the couly we have already tasted is excellent I have only managed one bottle of the Baudry thus far so too early to tell but Cravant looks like a wine mecca! I hope we can visit Grazay again next year - but we are nearing completion on our place in Switzerland so may have to go there next summer! Thanks once again for loaning us your house - we had a fabulous time for two weeks.

I together with my wife Francoise returned to the UK yesterday after a memorable stay at your lovely home which was followed by a few days in Senonches and then Senlis.
We had a marvellous time. It was enjoyed by all. You have a very special place at Grazay. It has all that we could have hoped for. A beautiful house with a very well appointed interior. We made good use of the pool, the tennis court ( My legs are still sore as it was the first time I played for 20 years) and indeed the table tennis table with sessions late into the night. The location was ideal for us. Francoise has a love of the Loire having holidayed by it since her youth. She insists on a visit once a year. We managed to drag members of the party to Azay le Rideau and Richelieu but it was not easy to get them away from the attractions of Grazay. Our 40th anniversary was celebrated at a lunch at the Auberge de Jable. They had set up a table for us under the vines. The food was delicious. Thankyou for the recommendation, indeed the owners were very happy that you had sent us to them. Your hospitality is much appreciated. Fabian and his wife too were most helpful. All the best
