The nearby village of Biron (5km) is mainly visited for its impressive castle but it’s also a delightful village to wander around admiring the pretty houses and gardens as you walk up from the church to the upper part of the village near Chateau Biron.  A visit to the impressive chateau is a must due to its glorious views of the surrounding Dordogne countryside as well as the fascinating interiors which are open to visitors.

Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

How long have you owned the property?
12 years

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
We fell in love with for its beautiful location and views!

Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Our lovely neighbours used to own the farmhouse and still love to visit....their son (huge rugby player now) came in and asked to see his old bedroom....got upset as we had removed his kiddy action hero wallpaper!!

What’s the strangest or most difficult guest request you’ve ever received?
Could we make the pool bigger!!

For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
As little as possible...!

Really eat?
Everything.... diet when you get home!

Really see?
The view from the pool!

Lastly, what insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Do the markets - food and drink is amazing, and don't spend any more than 10 euros on a bottle of wine, the quality and value for money is fantastic!
