Overview of Chateau De Simon

What Oliver loves…

  • This French chateau’s large pool has roman steps for easy entry. You’ll love the proximity of the summer house with bathroom and al fresco dining area.
  • The architecture at this chateau, which includes 18th century updates, is stunning.
  • The secluded mature gardens are a perfect spot for a quiet walk.

What you should know…

  • Not all bedrooms are en-suite.
  • A car hire is highly recommended.

The charming 15th century Chateau de Simon, a holiday chateau in Aquitaine, is situated on 15 acres of private woodland with a variety of wildlife and the beautiful river Dropt running through. Go for a dip in a large swimming pool, then enjoy outdoor dining in the nearby summer house with an attached bathroom. The chateau is in perfect position, on the border between the Dordogne and the Lot et Garonne.

The family house, furnished with antiques, sleeps 12 in 6 bedrooms with a high standard of comfort. The two first-floor master bedrooms have unique features like wooden beams and amazing views. You’ll find original ceilings, stone walls and marble fireplaces in some rooms, including the grand salon. Walk out to the gardens from the drawing room's French doors.

When you’re ready to explore the area, you’re near several medieval towns and castles, including the market town of Castillonnes (5 km) and Eymet (9 km), which has a large English-speaking population. Wine lovers can visit the area’s many vineyards, including St. Emilion, Monbazillac and Cahors appellations. Seek out nearby man-made lakes with sandy beaches for swimming and water sports.

This luxury chateau is 20 km from the Bergerac airport.

Interior & Grounds

This beautiful family house provides a very high standard of comfort and is predominantly furnished with antiques. The grand salon has a beautiful original ceiling and a marble fireplace and the dining room has kept many of its original features, despite being the kitchen during the century that the chateau was built.

On the ground floor is a dining room that seats 12 people with a stunning fireplace. There is also a drawing room with an open fireplace, and French doors that open onto the rear garden. There is a large kitchen and breakfast room that is fully equipped with everything you will need. There is one beautiful double bedroom with a fireplace, two twin bedrooms and one family bedroom. There is a bathroom and a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.

The first floor contains the breathtaking master bedroom with dressing room and en suite bathroom. Stunning wooden beams and windows that open onto the grounds make this a special place to stay. The second master bedroom contains a canopied double bed with built in wardrobes and original wooden beams.

The swimming pool is surrounded by gorgeous plants and flowers and there is a fully equipped summer house that is perfect for outdoor dining with with a bathroom attached. This really is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
