Having recently undergone extensive refurbishment, this chateau offers spacious accommodation in extensive grounds with woodland walks through ancient cedars. Enjoy a billiards room, private 12x6m pool, fenced tennis court and terrace for outdoor dining.

The chateau sleeps 19 in 8 bedrooms with traditional furniture and 6 stunning modern bathrooms, many en-suite. The expansive contemporary kitchen is fitted to a high standard, and the dining room’s extendable table will seat 16 for your dinners together. The two salons include one with a TV/DVD player and another with a beautiful 17th century stone fireplace. The home’s highlight is the first floor entertaining space with picture gallery and grand piano.

This luxury chateau is only 1 km from the 13th century fortified village of Castelsagrat, where you can walk the stone arcades and visit a boulangerie and bar-restaurant. A short drive away, you’ll find Moissac, which has lively weekend markets, a beautiful abbey and an extension of the Canal du Midi.

Interior & Grounds

On the ground floor is a beautiful modernised kitchen with dining room offering a breakfast table to seat 8, a modern gas-fired Lacanche kitchen range with double electric ovens, built-in steamer and plancha, central island with dishwasher, Liebherr fridge, freezer and wine cooler, and an extendable dining table with seating for 16 adults. The large sitting room that opens out to the terrace, garden and swimming pool, comes with television and DVD player. A separate living area beside the beautiful C17th stone fireplace leads from the dining room through to the terrace. At the base of the sweeping stone staircase, the Yellow salon has a large carved fireplace and offers access to the terrace and garden. The billiards room is furnished with a traditional French Billiards table. There are also two separate WCs on this floor.

On the first floor is is the grand ‘couloir du chateau’. At over 26m long, it is offers a wonderful entertaining space and is decorated with chandeliers, a picture gallery, a grand piano for the music-minded and a stone Juliette balcony overlooking the sweep of the driveway for the romantics! There are 8 bedrooms (1 quad, 1 triple, 2 twin, 4 doubles) and 6 bathrooms. Additional beds can be added on request to a number of bedrooms.

A utility room is situated in the old stables opposite the chateau, which offers two washing machines, separate tumble dryer, along with under floor heating to ensure damp clothes dry out all year round.

Within the chateau grounds is a large private garden with ancient cedars and a 12x6m swimming pool to the south, and a high-fenced hard tennis court to the rear. The terrace lends itself to outdoor dining in the summer, and the garden is ideal for entertaining on a larger scale. The grounds are extensive and mainly set over arable land, but woodland walks and beautiful views over the Seoune valley are all available. The property has an employee living on site in a separate building in the grounds, however, your privacy is assured.

Chateau Castelsagrat Reviews

  • Castelsagrat has it all!

Posted by John S. on 15/11/2016

Castelsagrat has it all: beautiful buildings, spacious grounds, generous quarters, many large meeting spaces, all of which are perfectly maintained and managed by thoughtful and friendly caretakers. It was the perfect place for our large family wedding. Well done!

  • I would recommend the chateau to anyone

Posted by Dany-Noele DF on 18/10/2016

I would recommend the chateau to anyone. Petra and Alistair are the most wonderful people. Alistair has also been able to solve many last minute problems with electricity. They were caring and available whenever we needed. Thank you!

  • The perfect venue for our son's wedding

Posted by Kate and Jeff B. on 10/09/2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chateau Castelsagrat. It was the perfect venue for our son's wedding. Alistair and Petra were extremely helpful and friendly in helping everything run smoothly. Thank you!

  • Thank you!

Amazing place! We had a wonderful stay!

  • A splendid holiday at a magnificent chateau!

Posted by Leslie P. on 14/07/2016

Our family gathered at Chateau Castelsagrat on 11 June and despite mixed weather had a splendid holiday. The place is magnificently equipped and has oodles of space. Petra is excellent. The descriptions in the particulars are very accurate. One (minor) issue is about the barbecue. Given the very high standard of all the other equipment the two small and elderly barbecues were inadequate for our party of twelve. We understand that the owner likes to cook over wood but the rest of us would value a proper large gas barbecue. Having said all that however we had a great holiday and would happily use your firm again.

    Regards, Les Purdie

  • A fantastic wedding

Posted by Simon and Jan U. on 08/06/2016

We had an amazing stay. Our wedding was fantastic, more than we could have dreamed about. Petra and Alistair have been excellent, and made our stay more enjoyable. The welcome, the entertainment, the catering service and decorations were all excellent. Good value! We hope to return one day to celebrate an anniversary!

  • The most amazing time!

    Posted by A.T. on 06/06/2016

Just wanted to say thank you so much for helping us organise everything at such short notice. We had the most amazing time - and the chateau was more then we could have hoped for. We are looking at trying to come back!

  • Thank you!

Posted by Sarah H on 22/10/2015

Our friend chose this property for a week-long birthday celebration for a dozen of her friends and family members. What a treat that we were included! Chateau Castelsagrat is magnificent! It is beautiful, roomy, comfortable, and, well-equipped with all modern conveniences in the kitchen, laundry room, and pantry. For those with disabilities, there is no elevator and no first floor bedroom. There are stairs but they are well-spaced and large, which makes it easy to climb. The small village is just a short walk away. A drawback for some and a plus for others might be that it is fairly isolated, except for the small village a short walk away, where basic necessities can be picked up . Any real food shopping requires a drive of 20-30 minutes. We did lots of walks through the countryside and small villages, played tennis and swam in the pool, or inside played French billiards or read. Never bored! We did lots of cooking and found the kitchen had almost everything one could think of. A huge benefit was the family who lived on the grounds and acted as the consierge and handyman. They were terrific, stopping by every day to check on us and see if we needed anything and available 24/7. We were the guests of our friend and therefore do not know the cost or the "value" but I can't praise Chateau Castelsagrat enough!

  • Such a beautiful place!

Posted by catherine S on 21/09/2015

We had a fabulous long weekend at Chateau Castelsagrat. The Chateau is absolutely beautiful and the grounds are superb, it was a great place for 14 ladies to stay. The property was very clean and tidy and we felt at home' as soon as we arrived, the champagne reception also helped :-)

The property is big enough that we were never on top of eachother, although the weather was very kind to us, so we spent most of our time outside by the pool. The housekeeper and her husband (Petra and Alistair) looked after us extremely well, they prepared a delicious meal for us on our last evening and helped with any queries or shopping we had or needed. We also hired a local chef to prepare a meal so that we could make the most of our relaxing time and that was also delicious. Alexis has been very helpful from start to finish with whatever queries we sent via email and I cannot thank Flora and Zara from Oliver's enough for finding this gem of a place for our weekend. Absolutely delighted with the Chateau, the service and the experience, will definitely visit again next year!

  • Fabulous time at Chateau Castelsagrat!

Posted by Mark T on 28/08/2015

We had a fabulous two weeks at Chateau Castelsagrat. We all had a fantastic time, and were delighted with the property which swallowed our large group such that no one was ever on top of anyone else, even on the days when the weather was less good to us. The housekeeper and her husband (Petra and Alistair) also looked after us extremely well, and Alexis was very helpful too. At the Oliver’s Travels end, Flora and Zara were both extremely efficient at booking time so will be looking you guys up next year!

  • Fairy tale getaway!

    Posted by S R. on 27/06/2015

Our stay at Chateau Castelsagrat was a fairy tale. The grounds are beautiful, the Chateau is luxurious and our weather was perfect. The owners anticipate all your desires, from quality linens to a gourmet kitchen. Walking distance to the quaint town where you will find a good bakery, a surprisingly good restaurant, a newsstand and a village square that becomes quite lively around lunch. Explore the grounds of the Chateau itself and you will find amazing views and lots of privacy. There are tennis courts and a pool if you are so inclined. The laundry room is bigger than some places I have lived. Nearby towns have markets and more shops if Castelsagrat does not suit your needs. Ninety minutes St. Emilion. Most relaxing vacation ever.

  • Charming holiday - look forward to returning

    Posted by D M. on 20/06/2015

We had a fabulous week at Chateau Castelsagrat. The chateau has been exquisitely restored and updated, with large bedrooms, modern bathrooms and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. We spent many happy afternoons lounging around the stunning pool and enjoying leisurely lunches at the outdoor dining table. The pool and grounds are beautiful. And we particularly enjoyed learning to play French billiards in the billiards room. Chateau Castelsagrat is located in a beautiful part of France. Castelsagrat is a charming little village, with a bakery, restaurant and news stand. It is just a 5 minute walk from the chateau. We visited many other charming villages in the area, soaking up local history and culture, and spent a day visiting "right bank" wineries in St. Emilion. The nearby town of Puymirol is the home of Michael Trama's two star restaurant, which should not be missed. While pricey, the food is worth it. All in all, we had a wonderful week and look forward to returning.

A holiday never to be forgotten. It ticks every box and more.Twenty two (including babies) all from one family and no one felt crowded or in each others space. A wonderful ,beautiful and relaxing time.

The pool and tennis court (with ball machine) a real treat and a kitchen to die for with every utensil you could think of. Can't wait to return

  • The most amazing week at the beautiful Chateau Castelsagrat

    Posted by E&R .W on 27/06/2010

I cannot thank you enough for the most amazing week at the beautiful Chateau Castelsagrat. We have rented houses in France and Italy for over 10 years, and I can truly say this was the absolute most wonderful property we have ever rented. The house is stunning -the photos on the website do not do it justice. The bedrooms and bathrooms are like those in a 5 star hotel. The kitchen is fantastic - and well equipped for big lavish dinner parties for 18 which we had every night! We used the tennis court for about 5 hours every day - burning the calories we could then later consume in wine/cheese/baguette. The chef services were great cooks - we thoroughly enjoyed being spoiled by them - cooking, serving and cleaning up a 5 course meal. The concierge was wonderful - always there to help in times of need! So - thank you! We will be back - already trying to figure out when!

  • An extremely enjoyable experience

An extremely enjoyable experience! Facilities excellent, wonderful weather, spectacular scenery

  • The highest recommendation!

    Posted by N.B . on 13/06/2010

We had a wonderful stay. The Tennis Court (and training machine!) was a great hit with everyone. The Swimming Pool was fantastic deep and large; we spent most of our tie in and around the pool! The Chateau is beautiful, and fantastically well equipped: everything was provided tennis racquets, endless towels, Nespresso coffee. All in all, we had a fantastic time and would not hesitate to give the Chateau the highest recommendation. Thank you very much!

  • Cant wait to come back!

As expected, and very much more A fantastic Chateau, fantastic location; we could not have asked for more. Cant wait to come back!
